I bought this product around two years ago, and while I don't use it incredibly frequently, it always gets the job done when I'm in a pinch. I use this whenever there's a sudden power outage, or on a trip where I still got some work to do. [DURABILITY] - Clumsily, I've dropped this a couple of times, but there were rarely any signs of scratches. - Once, it had even drop out of my bag through the cracks down several floors while going up my apartment stairs... leaving just a crack on its side but absolutely no loss in functionality. [WIFI/CONNECT] - After the free "x" amount of days upon purchase, we can "refill" through purchasing a plan at any time through their app. It allows a range of variability down to even just a one day plan. - The app is VERY easy to navigate and it takes just a few presses to select a plan, pay, and you're good to go. It allows multiple devices to connect as well without much loss in quality. The set up process is equally simple when following their little manual. - For reference, I was able to join zoom meetings, log onto games (albeit a bit laggy), and do online browsing/work on my desktop during power outages by buying a one day plan. - I've personally never lost connectivity while using it, but I've noticed more remote locations are generally slightly slower in speed. [BATTERY LIFE / MISC CONCERNS] - Be warned, this might be a deal breaker for some. If you're planning to use this on a trip (camping, hiking, etc.) without any form of charging, this will not last for more than half a day at most if being constantly used. - I learned this the hard way when I forgot to charge it fully a night prior to a hike and it died on me mid journey without any signal. - When I have a power outage at home, the typical time to fix the outage doesn't last more than a day, so there shouldn't be many issues with that constantly with ways nearby to charge. - Perhaps I don't use it often enough to know, but I haven't experienced any issues with the battery degrading in how long it can last; however, I must address that because I've only used it a few times, it's concerning how much faster it seems to heat up than I remember using it out the box initially. Overall, I consider it a fantastic purchase, and I'm grateful for the numerous times it got me out of a pinch during power outages affecting my work. Having it for road trips was a bonus, and the pricing is fair for the quality I received. It's remained consistent for use even after 2 years.

I decided to try this product as an alternative to getting cell service for my tablet, which I take everywhere and normally cannot use unless im at my home. Roam wifi has worked very well for me so far, no complaints! I have wifi everywhere I go now and its everything ive ever wanted! Setting it up was super simple, battery lasts forever, and its lightweight compact design makes it super convenient to carry around. Im really happy with it.

Bought it to use in Italy, worked great. If you do have alot of phones connected the data will be used up quickly. My suggestion would be to turn it off anywhere wifi is free, hotel, train, restaurants, etc. Save your data for gps/walking/google maps. Even has a sim card slot for non supported countries, I'll try it soon in SXM. Always used the wifi for viator messages, whats app, whatever i needed on the go.

Finally a solution that works for all our international trips. For years we would get a local Europe SIM card for our Huawei mobile wifi (we had 3 phones and a tablet to get online and didn’t want to get multiple SIMs). Although not perfect Orange SIM cards are our overall favorite. The 3 (UK Three) card we used in Scotland 2023 worked fine for data coverage but it never supported WiFi calling mode which means we didn’t get standard SMB (non-iMessage) texts either. Very annoying. Orange never had that problem and we used those all over Europe. But this year we have a South America trip this fall and the Huawei won’t work there. And I wasn’t looking forward to figuring out the SIM card situation anyway, not really any solid options other than get something in-country and we don’t do that. So I looked into various mobile hotspot ecosystems. We settled on RoamWifi and took it on our Portugal trip earlier this year as a sort of test drive (we could have done Orange SIM in the Huawei). It worked great! I love this thing. After getting a plan for your location you do need to give it a few minutes to connect to the local cell system but after that, except in a couple spotty-signal remote areas, it was pretty bulletproof. I love being able to see data usage dynamically. I was never able to do that with the mobile wifi + SIM. Battery life was better than my Huawei so that was a plus. And we have power cells to extend operation so we never had any problems there. Customer support response time (no problems, just questions from me) was very fast. I asked and got answers for 3 questions within a couple hours each time. gLocalMe took days to answer one question. (Might have been over a week). Also, the unit can take a SIM card, so it could be a fall back plan if it comes to it. The plans are mostly reasonably priced, very easy to understand, and are largely consistent w.r.t. GB capacity and days across the available regions. Have you seen GlocalMe’s plan options? So confusing and largely more expensive. A couple knocks but not worthy of down-grading: 1- a plan activates right away when you power up the unit when in a location with a purchased plan. I’d prefer some way to activate it myself when I was ready. For example if you need a Canada or Mexico plan you can only get a North America plan which means it activates if you power it up while still home in the U.S. So be careful about that. 2- it would be nice to have more days for a given GB amount. There is some variability here among regions. A 30GB/365d Japan plan is $20.90. The $59 N. American 30GB plan is only 30d. Huh? I guess telco reg differences per nation? 3- the Latin American plans are almost as expensive as the global data plans. And about 2.5-3x more than Europe or Australia. If it solves our multi-country trip this fall then it will be well worth the cost. And compared to the vaccinations and pills we need… a drop in the bucket.

I want a hot spot for our coming trip to France since my husband needs to work. I ordered another brand because it has a slot for a physical sim. However, it was so difficult to even put the sim in. After I tried many times I gave up. I ordered roamwifi based on reviews. Then, I was pleasantly surprised that it also has a slot for sim. It was straightforward. I downloaded the app then connected to my laptop annd phone immediately. It was such a lifesaver for someone who is not tech savvy. I highly recommended. Also, it is small and light. Also, the battery lasts all day. Great product!!!!
