Amazing upgrade!

I switched my basic screen from my X3 G01 to this screen and this is a difference of day and night! The installation was very simple and it absolutely fits perfect. Just be aware that you would need a trim removal kit which is not included in the package. - But you can buy that for around $5. At the beginning I was worried that it was too big because the original one is way smaller but not at all! It is easy to operate and you can switch between the original BMW menu and the system it comes with. Carplay/Android Auto is a game changer as my previous system did not even have a navigation system. To have Spotify and Google-Maps on one screen is absolute great and a huge improvement! Absolutely worth the money and would definitely recommend!

Almost perfect

So it looks great and works very well, but two things, first the mode button on your steering wheel will no longer function. Kind of a letdown that you have to go back to the OEM screen scroll through the media and then go back to the CarPlay or android Auto. Kind of annoying. Also, I can’t really customize it like a true android unit because it’s Linux based. Still it’s far better than the android unit I got from China

Amazing upgrade

First review I've ever left on Amazon. This thing is amazing. Intstallation is straightforward (don't forget to swap the optical connector). The screen is big, crystal clear and looks great. It almost feels OEM in my opinion rather than being an aftermarket install. It's like a having a new car again. Could not be happier with this purchase.

It's good, but not perfect

I've had this unit for several months now in a G01 X3 with the Harmon Kardon factory sound system. I specifically wanted to add Android Auto to my car while retaining as much factory functionality as possible. Of the options out there to add in Android Auto, this one seemed to be the best fit for me so I bought it. It works well, but is not perfect. First, the good. - The screen is larger than the factory screen (though because it is a higher resolution than the factory screen, the factory menu options are not crisp and clear from the scaling). - The screen is easy to install - All of the touchscreen functionality of the original display is retained - The factory controls over Bluetooth work as expected (have to use the factory Bluetooth connection for the audio and wired/wireless Android Auto for the video). As for the bad: - The screen squeaks and creaks a lot driving down the road. It was dead silent when first installed but over time has gotten worse and worse (the mount is 100% plastic unlike the factory display's mostly metal mount). - There is no volume indicator on screen when in Android Auto - I have to use the factory Bluetooth connection for the audio to work from my phone and to retain the factory controls and wireless Android Auto for the display portion of things. This can sometimes result in Bluetooth doing weird things or not connecting while Android Auto runs fine and my phone is playing music out of it's speakers. - I cannot figure out how to have Android Auto read aloud my messages or for me to use voice commands since I just get an error about the microphone not being available. - You cannot get Google Maps to NOT be displayed on the screen regardless of what other apps you want on the screen. You can either fullscreen Google Maps or do split screen with any other app. This bugs the crap out of me as I don't even have my location turned on when I'm just driving around town so I have this useless bright white square taking up screen space that I can't get rid of. I don't have this issue on other cars that natively support Android Auto.

Well worth the price

It does what it says - your old crappy car will feel like one from this century. Works as inended, looks like what BMW should have installed in the first place. Bright enough, responsive, includes OEM menu, carplay wired & wireless, screen is huge. Customer support was quick helpimg me find the correct model. Installed on BMW X3 F25 from 2014 with a 2-color gameboy screen. Installation is quite simple, ~10 Torx 20 screws and some clips, there are multiple videos online on how to disassemble the interior. After rewireing with the harness and reassembling you are good to go. Documentation for system should include the system options, I had to search for the option to increase brightness - was hidden behind brighness nigh, but you can not set time in the system and it was not nighttime. Minor things, you will set once and forget afterwards. All together a $2000 upgrade for a friction, finally a usable car. Absolutely worth it.
