OK, I bought this even though it had no reviews yet, so I am the guinea pig. I like the fact that it starts up and is ready to go, if you like the reading in meters per second. Then the programming fun begins. The instructions need further translation as the diction is difficult to comprehend. Some directions do not apply to this product, it seems. For example, there are no audio "beeps" present when pushing the function button as stated in the text. OK, now it gets kinda hairy. To get the readings on your phone, you have to disconnect from your home router. After discovering this phenomenon, I was able to get the display on my phone! For example, 8.8.8.8 sends you to a Google public domain, not to the Crony's display. It would be a whole lot simpler and easier if it used Bluetooth technology instead of Wi-Fi!!!     • Working chronograph at attractive price point.
The good news is that this chronograph is well built and works as advertised. The bad news is that the instruction manual is in need of a serious rewrite. It took a couple of passes of each section to understand the features and how to set them for use. The author also did not make it clear that in order to use the WiFi feature you need to disconnect from you home WiFi and then use the phone’s browser to connect to the web server hosted on the chronograph at the address specified in the manual. It would have made a much smoother experience getting everything set up with that info. It boots up when the power switch is turned on and defaults to meters-per-second for projectile speed. If you want feet-per-second you have to push the single button on the unit at a specific point in the machine’s boot up process and then push it again to change the speed mode to feet per second. There is another option that measures the force of the projectile rather than speed, and that is also a somewhat cryptic and involved process to invoke. Testing: Once you have the batteries inserted to run the chronograph, the unit connected to a 5 volt power adapter to run the hosted web server, and your phone’s web browser directed to the address provided to access the chronograph server’s page (i.e. this page shows the results of each test you perform) the unit is fully set up for your tests. I chose to test this in my indoor air gun range with a bb pistol. I ran several test shots through the chronograph and it worked perfectly displaying the speed of each shot in FPS (e.g. averaged 295 FPS for 10 shots). Overall, this is a fine unit at an attractive price point. Accurate, and with the WiFi enabled allows you to keep track of each shot’s selected measurement (i.e. speed or force). Without the WiFi and phone setup, you only see a shot’s performance statistic displayed on the display window of the chronograph and it is not saved for later review. ... show more
