    • Great machine at half the price of the next best competitor
I rarely write reviews, but this is such an exceptional value, I felt I must. I used to have a complete gym in my home with thousands of dollars worth of equipment. However, my wife and I went on the road for a few years and I switched to body weight exercises. I am now settled and wanted to lift some weights safely, so I started to look at Smith machines as a safe way to get back to lifting. The RitFit stood out, mostly because it was half the price of most of the competition. Also, the manufacturer sells a lot of other more expensive weight equipment and they have a web site, so it seemed like a safe bet. I had some shipping issues, which was not the company's fault. I was able to call them directly from the number on the web site, they tracked my order and followed up with me after to make sure my issue was resolved. Excellent response if somewhat of a long wait on the phone. The machine arrived in three separate boxes a few days apart, one long heavy, one short heavy, and one with just the locking safety collars. The instructions were very good except that you need to put all the bottom upward facing bolts in place before adding any of the upright pieces. Also, make sure the long stainless steel bars have the threaded end facing up. The machine itself is is very well made and sturdy for the price. I have to agree with one of the online reviews on You Tube. This is the perfect machine for people that bench less that 300 lbs. That would be most of us. If you bench heavy, you would not be considering this machine anyhow. The Smith machine part is smooth and it is easy to catch the bar. The pull down bar and lat pull are both extremely smooth. I have been using this for a month now and have no complaints. It is sturdy and will last me for years. My max bench is 200 lbs and this is very stable. If you want more stability for some reason RitFit includes expansion bolts that you can put into a concrete floor for for absolute stability. Unless you lift heavy or have specific needs this machine does not provide, this FitRit Smith machine for about $400 dollars is a steal!! There was one other machine on Amazon for about $100 more, but they had no web site, no contact info and didn't sell other weight equipment. The next closest machine after that was close to $1000. For most people this is a GREAT buy. Also, keep in mind you will need to get separate weights and a bench, so still not cheap, but great if you want a home gym that you can use without a partner and still be safe. ... show more

The machine shipped a couple of days after I placed the order and arrived in multiple boxes over three days. For assembly, I followed another reviewer's advice and used an 11/16 socket with my drill. This method proved to be a significant time saver compared to using a manual socket wrench or the provided tools. The instructions are primarily visual, so pay close attention to the illustrations. While they weren't bad overall, there was one part with a poorly drawn diagram that led me to install two parts on the wrong side initially. This mistake required me to disassemble what I had already put together to correct it. Timothy Murray’s review highlighted a similar issue and included helpful images for reference. I wish I had read that before I assembled mine. About 75% of the assembly can be completed alone, but for the remaining 25%, you'll need someone to assist in holding up certain parts during the process. It took me approximately 5 hours to complete the assembly by myself, and I had to use a ladder and pillows to support some pieces while screwing them in. I contacted the seller for a replacement piece as one was damaged and I received it quickly. Thank you! Aside from the hiccup with the instructions and the damaged piece, I am happy with this product. It is sturdy and works well. Tip: Take all of the parts out of the box, label them and layout in order BEFORE beginning the assembly. Went together pretty easily, very reasonably priced, and after losing a couple of rubber feet, customer service was really good and sent me out another set for a small charge of $25, which is fine by me since I lost them...Well worth the buy..

For a $400 smith machine, this is definitely good. Building it was fairly easy. I’m not great at building stuff and it took me about 4 hours (one of which was unwrapping everything). I did about 85% by myself. My lady had to come in a couple of times to hold something up while I bolted something down. Would have been much harder without her helping. One thing to remember that they label things right and left assuming you’re facing away from the back. This is important. With that said, they mislabeled one of the pieces which required me to take it apart and start over. I circled the piece in one of my photos. All other “right” and “left” components were correct but these pieces seemed to be backwards. Please see the photo to see how it’s supposed to look before trusting the right/ left labels provided. It seems very sturdy. I don’t have it floor mounted and was able to do some pull ups to test stability. The smith function absolutely has less quality than what you’d see in a higher end machine, but again, this is a small foot print, inexpensive machine. I would notice I can push one side higher than the other during reps instead of it constantly feeling like the two sides are equal. I would absolutely recommend this if you’re low on space or budget, but if you’re looking for gym quality, this isn’t the piece for you. Huge props to the previous review who included pictures of the cable install, that’s how I was able to complete that step. The directions for this part are not great. I’ll follow up if my opinion on the machine improves or gets worse, but for now, with the low cost in mind, I can give a 4/5. ... show more
