If you have horses, you tend to learn a LOT more about fencing than you ever imagined. So I've become a little bit of an expert of various kinds of electric fencing! These clamps are for the electric tape fencing, which is much safer for horses. The tape is much less likely to injure a horse, and their skin is sensitive enough that the tape is an effective deterrent. These clamps are what you run the tape through to hold it to the fence posts. This plastic is the kind that has a bit of give to it. You don't want the ones that are completely hard and brittle, those don't survive. You need this type, which is almost a tiny bit rubbery. That way it can flex a little bit instead of braking. You also need clamps that have enough plastic between the electric tape, and the nails or screws that you use to attach them, so that they provide insulation and keep you from shorting out your electric fence system. And, you need clamps that hold the tape tightly enough to keep the wind from blowing the tape around, but not so tightly that a trapped horse can't escape in an emergency. These clamps are exactly what you need. Five big stars!

So when I ordered these the picture showed screw in clamps that held electric fence wire. The item we received was polytape clamps. I cannot use these as we don't use polytape on our fence. Comparing these to other polytape clamps you can buy at your local farm store I would say they are well built and good quality.

These plastic poly tape holders are a good quality and make running the electric fence a lot easier. They are a good use when you need to clamp down poly tape or take up the slack at the end of the line. They extend the tape out about 1” from the mounting point so best used on straight runs or internal corners. We’ve used these to mount to trees and posts fairly easily with just two screws and appreciate that they come in a large pack of 25. There's a rubber insert to help protect the tape and the tightening nuts can be turned by hand so once mounted, you don't need any tools. That is a nice feature for more remote areas.

These 1 and 1/2 inch Polytape clamps are made from a more rigid plastic than what I've used previously when running a fence line. As such, they tend to be a little less forgiving when trying to nail them in place with a hammer that's a little off mark. No matter, though as I actually prefer to screw them in, with 2 inch screws instead which makes them easier to remove or replace later should the need arise. Unlike the previous Polytape clamps I've used in the past where the clamping bar is hinged on one side and folds down over the tape and snaps shut, these clamps have thumb screws on both sides of the clamping bar which I find I'm liking a lot more. I can adjust the clamp tension to my needs while at the same time it makes it easier to open the clamping bar as needed. Finally, These actually fit nicely over the front side of T-posts and can easily be attached with a couple of zip-ties allowing me to only have to purchase one type of clamp instead of one for wood posts and a separate style for T-posts.

These very handy and versatile insulators are so useful! They allow polytape to be used with wooden posts and provide a very sturdy, secure attachment. They also have a convenient hook like shape, which means a gate hook can also be secured by them... They are a bit bigger than I thought they would be and have to be assembled. (which takes just a minute or two!) However, they are very sturdy and should last a long time out in the harsh elements.
