🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Premier 1 Poultrynet fence is highly praised for its durability, quality, and efficacy in deterring animal incursions, while ensuring livestock safety. Many mentioned it was easy to set up, move, and maintain, even for those new to using electric fences. A key point of customer satisfaction is the product's longevity, as one user noted the product's great performance even after two and a half years. However, some users feel the product is heavy and difficult to handle single-handedly, and there were mentions of decreased shock intensity due to dry weather.

Pros

  • 😊 High-quality, durable, and effective containment system.
  • 👍 Easy to set up and can be moved around easily.
  • 🐔 Great for ensuring the safety of a variety of livestock.

Cons

  • 💪 Some users find it challenging to handle single-handedly due to its weight.
  • ⛈ Shock intensity can decrease during dry weather, potentially letting animals escape.
  • 🔌 May require purchasing of additional correct style and size energizer to operate effectively.

Should I Buy It?

Yes, the Premier 1 Poultrynet fence is a highly recommended product. Its high-quality performance, longevity, and easy setup make it an excellent choice, especially for those intending to keep a variety of livestock. Notwithstanding, potential purchasers should be prepared for some challenges with weight and dry weather adjustments.

  • This is a great product by a great company. EDIT: A tree fell on the fence.
Great customer service from Premier 1 and a great product. I did some web research and still called with my dumb questions and they were very patient and helpful. I have a total of three of these poultrynet fences connected together (@492 linear feet) and so far so good. I could not ask for a better containment system for: Two goats, two pigs, four ducks and 20+ chickens and roos. We rotate our animals through a highly wooded/hilly 5 acre lot with one central barn-thingie. I call it Goat-tanamo Bay. We have moderate coyote, raccoon, redneck neighbor and dog pressure and this system has deterred incursions thus far. We move this fence almost every month and it is still super durable. By my definition of humane (I homestead, I eat animals, but I don’t eat friends) this system is humane. Every now and again I will hear a random LOUD squeal, bleat or cluck but the shock has never maimed or injured an animal. It’s more of a surprise really. Like a 6,000 volt birthday present, while you are not looking. With that said, I do not put small or juvenile animals into the paddock until they have demonstrated a wee bit of sense and some hardiness. Our domestic cat and little rat-dog each met the electronet once or twice… Now they won’t even go near it. The cat is smarter than the dog. There are a few notes that I hope will save you some headaches: • You must use the correct style AND size energizer. You cannot use high impedance style energizers with this electronet or you will burn up the net. Select an energizer beefy enough to charge all your fence length or you will not keep the good guys in and the bad guys out. • You must adequately ground (earth) your system with the recommended number of rods (per your energizer’s specifications). You can have the best electronet and energizer combo but if you are not grounded adequately you will NOT deliver sufficient shock to contain your animals. • As our paddock dries out from lack of rainfall, the intensity of the shock decreases and we have a few bold chickens make the jailbreak. If the same chicken keeps getting out, then we make Coq au Vin… The French have a tasty solution for unruly cockerels and hens. • The electronet will not protect my tasty animals from aerial predators or attacks (hawks, falcons, etc.) but a 12 gauge will. • Don’t make narrow channels or funny shapes with the fence or your animals might get wrapped up in the electronet, get shocked, shock you as you struggle to untangle them, escape the paddock, lose their ear tag in the struggle and get eaten by coyotes later that night as your children weep, wail and lament… It was a rough first night… • Your wife will not laugh as hard as you do if she shocks her bum on this fence… Homesteading is tough but fun! This is a great product, great company and I was not compensated by anyone for this review. I would buy it again and I suggest you buy it too. Even if you don’t have animals… Jokes aside, I hope you find this helpful! EDIT 6/16/2020 I just wanted to do a 2.5 year follow up on this great product. This net is just as good today as the day I bought it! It does not appear to have degraded or declined in performance one bit. It keeps my animals safe from predators and still shocks my wife on the bum from time to time... EDIT 9/30/2020 In central Kentucky we have lot's of standing dead Ash trees from the Emerald Ash Borer destruction. One of these Ash trees fell full on my electronet fence... The fence did not break it just laid down until I could cut the 10" diameter trunk up and then remove several hundred pounds of wood. I put the posts back in the ground and the fence works just as well as it did before the tree fell on it. If that is not quality, I don't know what is... ... show more

  • easy to set up
Glad I spent the extra money for premier 1. never worked with electric fence netting before . I set it up today and it was easier than expected and it works great.

  • Good product. Works great.
Fence works fine. Definitely needs strong support in corners or curves during strong winds and storms. I will set some T-posts in the weaker areas. Keeps dogs out and chickens in. I will probably buy a second fence and connect them. Good product.

  • A must-have if you have farm animals!
Functionality: This fencing is so great on our new farm. We have two baby goats and one is a tiny escape artist, so the goat-sized netting holes were too large to hold her and she hopped through them (while being shocked 🤦🏻♀️). The poultry net has been perfect! We love that we can use it for focused grazing and move their area around the property to easily. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Does great on flat land.
To start off, I was pretty impressed with the fact that it was a portable electric fence. When it arrived I unboxed and set it up and put my chickens in it. It was simple to set up and get going. When I moved it though I found that it does take patience to roll it up correctly because if you impatiently roll it up you will have a spiderweb of a mess!! But it is still a great thing to have around. But I have also found that it does not work as well on hilly or uneven terrain. The fence will touch the ground and cause you to lose power even if you get it tight and and add corner posts for tension. On flat land however it is perfect and flawless. I would recommend to anyone with poultry. However I haven't tried it with my goats yet but I do plan on giving it a try and will update when I do, I do have my doubts though because goats are stubborn. Hopefully this helps someone. ... show more

  • Keep animals where they are meant to be!
An absolute must have for any sized farm. You absolutely get your bang for your buck with this fence. Hundreds of dollars cheaper than building a small fence and adding electricity to it. We have had zero issues with this brand/fence and actually have quite a few fences from them! Just be careful touching it if you are grounded out because boy does it work haha. Super strong, durable, and easy to install! ... show more

  • Great Temporary Solution, but Beware of it’s Flaws and Potential Danger!
The media could not be loaded. I will say this is a great temporary solution, or for rotational grazing and clearing, but not a permanent set up as it’s not the safest. This works better for my chickens, than my goats. If you forget to turn it on, the goats will get tangled in the netting, and you run the risk of them suffocating and dying, so please beware, no small goats!! However if you use it properly with these factors in mind, it is a great little fence. ... show more

  • Effective
It's kept our chickens safe (together with Chickshaws) from coyote, weasel, mountain lion, bobcat, and wild pig, all of which we've seen on our land. We move it once a week to give the chickens a new patch of pasture. We now have a total of 366' protecting 60+ birds. In 2 years, have not lost a bird behind the netting to predators. We do find that our hard soil bends the prongs occasionally. I've gotten good at straightening them, and found a good hammer technique that bends them less often. I've broken one pole by stepping hard on it when I tripped. The bottom (un-energized) string has been chewed through twice by gophers or rabbits, but was easily repaired using the included repair kit. Otherwise, it's been 2 mostly trouble-free years. I find the 166' length to be a bit unwieldy when moving; I can't gather it up without having a second person to hold the bundle or tying it up in two bundles. The 100' lengths just barely fit into my hands, and I can manage them myself. I'm considering using the single-prong poles for the next length I order, since our soil is often too hard to step them in. ... show more
