Looks great! I already like the design with the flat back to attach to the fence. It’s very sturdy and well made and a great price. The hole on the bottom is a little big so it won’t work for the young ones but it should work just fine for my bigger birds. I was very pleased with the quality of this cone. The edges are all folded over so nothing is sharp. However, it is a little on the short side, and if you hang it like I prefer, it dangles at an angle. So the first rooster we put in there kicked himself right out the back. I had to chase down a headless rooster. If you mount it on something so it hangs flat I think it would be fine, but it is a bummer to have it shorter and be limited in use. Our other killing cones are longer and don't have this issue. The one I bought was the perfect size for regular roosters, even my smaller banties didn't fall through the opening, tho it was close. Have not used yet, but you can feel how well this is made. The ones I have seen at farm stores are absolutely junk compared to this one! Great price, and amazing product! Also, received it only a few days after ordering, got it quicker than my items shipped from Amazon from the same order.

    • Too small for 8 week old meat birds
Used these medium cones for 8-9 week old Cornish cross. First, the way these are shaped is not useful for a fat chicken. They are more "U" shaped at the head opening. The funneling does not allow for enough neck to be exposed. Imo, this shape would work better for ducks. Second, the cones will only hold up to a 6lb Cornish cross and even that is almost too big to get the head down far enough. I'd recommend for 3-6lb Cornish cross or an average size egg laying hen. For anything larger like a rooster, large breed hen or larger cornish cross I'd choose a larger cone or different brand. ... show more
