After 4 months using that green house, the overall experience is: I should have taken another one. This house is not stable at all - The window on top broke out with the first tiny wind... even parts in between break easily. The rubber of the door can not really be fixed... Very complicated in setting up - even more complicated if parts have to be exchanged... pure unstable plasticworks... feels like 200$ not like 2000$. I would preferr to tear it down and replace with a quality green house... the only thing that keeps me from doing that is the amount of garbage, that would be produced ... show more

  • Great Greenhouse!!!
Size: 6' x 12'
In spite of my limited exposure to greenhouses, this being my first walk-in, I'm very happy to report this particular one's been a pleasure to build. It took about 8 days, as I worked on it one or two hours each day, by my self, and with only the basic tools recommended. I would have preferred the 8 x 12, but space is very precious in my back yard, so the 6 x12 had to suffice. reluctant to involve this project with concrete, I placed it right on top of the soil by digging a 12" wide x 12" deep trench, filled it with 3/4" gravel, and placed 6 x 15 x 12 concrete retaining wall blocks, (which I already had) directly on the gravel, then added 2 x 6 pressure treated lumber . One minor hiccup; the Rion website put the overall outer length at 12' 1", in fact measures 12' 6". The quick fix was to change the end board to a 2 x 12 dimension, cut it back a few inches, and fitted the bottom frame perfectly. I read previous reviews complaining about nothing in writing on the instructions, to which I say, "Get a life!". If you've ever built a lego, any lego, then the instructions for this greenhouse are right up your alley. If you stay on track, and build each part according to the order of the book, you'll have no problem. My one complaint; the tool they provide to push the pins in, is cut with the end shaped into a sharp wedge. This is the part of the tool which lays in the palm of your hand. As you push into the pin, the wedge digs right into your palm. Luckily, I build furniture as a hobby, so it was an easy fix. Another minor thought... the recommendation to build the roof section separately, then lift it onto the wall frame is really unnecessary. Being a lone builder, I had no choice but to build the entire house in place. I had absolutely no problems. (A ladder is required) As you unpack the boxes, you might find the plexiglass panels are a bit flimsy, but when you actually install them into the perfectly sized grooves, the flimsiness goes away. You'll also find that the framework pieces are very solid. And very perfectly designed to fit into one one another to make a very strong frame. Being a builder of high end furniture myself, I was impressed with the overall design of this greenhouse. Having only recently installing this greenhouse, the only test so far has been a moderate rain storm, to which I saw absolutely no leaks anywhere. As I was expecting the roof to have a moderate amount of leaking, I was quite impressed. I hope this review helps whoever takes the time to read it. I'm not one to take the time to write these reviews. Unless I'm really happy with the product. Remember... We're not alone in the universe. We have each other! ... show more

  • Would I buy this again?
Size: 6' x 8'
On a scale of 10, with 10 being the highest, I'd give this a 7.5 My deductions are for the instruction manual, the window & its latch, damaged parts and the overall "ease" of construction. 7.5 is for the overall look, style, size and usefulness. The size is perfect for sitting out beside our existing garden, which is very large. This will help us get a jump start on some of our plantings in the spring and provide a nice spot in the fall to extend the growing period of certain plants. I like the green color because it blends in with the natural surroundings of our property. I wanted to write this review to try to help first time green house buyers make an informed decision. Some reviews don't always give you everything you want. I hope this one provides enough to help make a choice or help someone who is trying to put one together right now. 1. The instruction manual is based on the 6x6 model, you have to figure in the extra parts for the larger size greenhouse during each step of the process. *Some pages will indicate the additional parts, but the manual is inconsistent in this aspect. 2. There are a lot of parts/pieces to this kit. NONE of this is pre-assembled for you. You are putting every thing together. Be prepared for that right up front. Open the box to find the manual, make sure you got the correct # of boxes for the size greenhouse -it's noted in the manual. You need an area large enough to lay out all the parts -all of them. I would suggest you start by going through the part list and manually inspect each piece. We counted and sorted ours. We did not inspect every piece and we should have. When we got to the very last part to complete the house it was damaged and we could not use it. I called the 800# and they are sending the part out this week. Inspect first, call for replacements or you might get part way done and have to sit and wait. 3. There is VERY little written instruction. The instruction for assembly is pictures. Take your time, look ahead in the book if necessary before you assemble. Once you put the pin in the joint it is there to stay. Also, once you get to the point of installing panels you keep going until it is finished. If you don't finish you risk damage should weather come through and blow the partially finished structure. The more parts that are installed you can see and feel the green house become more sturdy. Prior that you might get the impression that it is somewhat flimsy. 4. The instruction book also does not tell you that you can build the frame in two parts and put them together. Doing this would have made things easier for us. We found videos online of people doing it that way but decided to follow the book - we should have followed the video. We followed the book because it is the manufacturers instructions... The video shows assembling the lower portion based on the instruction book. The upper half was assembled on the ground then lifted into place - we wish we would have done that. 5. For the most part you are sliding pieces together and locking them in place with pins. These will not slide easily. In fact some were so difficult we had concerns we'd damage them. Thankfully we did not. The book does not offer any suggestions for sliding the parts together using less force. I'd recommend using a silicon spray for some of the parts. There is a video online showing them dipping parts in a bucket of soapy water. We tried, it wasn't that useful in my opinion. Then you have some parts that need to be "snapped" into place. Part # RA1 and RC3 will make you want to pull your hair out. I called the customer service number to ask if there was a trick to installing RA1, sadly there was not. However their CS Dept was very nice. She even called me back to try to offer more help after going back to the parts area and looking at one of the pieces I called about. She suggested silicone spray. *Had we been building the top portion of the greenhouse on the ground we might have got better leverage for snapping it in place. 6. All parts are numbered either with a sticker or molded into the part itself. The only thing not numbered are the screws/washers/nuts and the panels. There are stickers on the panels saying which side to face out but no part numbers. Some are obvious but not all are. The instruction book doesn't even provide a written description of the parts -it just a picture of the part and the #. I mean they could have at least provided the measurements of the screws but they didn't. 7. The window is ok but the arm lock is JUNK. It will NOT stop that window from being ripped off the roof come the first strong windy day. We are currently looking for a better solution. I want something on each corner to keep it from flapping. The current latch only has 1 point of contact with the window leaving the corners to be caught by the wind and possibly lift/blow open. The instruction for putting the window together is also lacking. The pictures really don't provide enough detail. I also don't like the angle on the arm, it points up toward the roof panel. 8. You could build this as is and use stakes (not provided) to pin it to the ground (similar to tent stakes) but I wouldn't recommend it. You want this on something level and sturdy. We used 4x4x8 posts anchored together. Squared it up and leveled it out. Built the bottom frame directly on the anchored posts. Worked out great. If you don't have the base squared up this greenhouse kit will not go together based on how the parts fit together - there is no give, they only fit together one way. I saw there is an optional base kit you can buy but I didn't look into it. With all of that said - would I buy this kit again??? Yes Knowing what I know now would make all the difference in our experience of putting this together. I wrote this review in hopes that I help someone else make a good choice and tips that might help them have a better first time experience than we did. ... show more

  • Do not buy
Size: 6' x 8'
This greenhouse has been the worst purchase I have made in a long time. It is cheaply made, complicated to build, and does not withstand weather well at all. We have only had it over a year and we have had to rebuild it twice. The company would not work with us on returns. I am so disappointed and I wish the reviews accurately reflected this product before I bought it. Do NOT buy this! ... show more
