I am very impressed with this Ring camera. The image quality is excellent, and the new AI features are intuitive and genuinely useful. The system feels very familiar if you’ve used previous Ring models, and everything synced up quickly without issues. One thing to note is that these cameras do pull a fair amount of bandwidth. I currently have nine cameras surrounding my property. Overall performance has been great. Most show strong signal strength, though a couple report weaker signals depending on placement. The app is where the real magic happens. The software improvements are a noticeable upgrade, especially the night vision, which is significantly better than prior generations. While the hardware has a clean, modern design, most of the improvement here is driven by software. If you plan on mounting these to a roof or soffit, be aware that Ring does not offer a great factory option. There are some solid aftermarket mounting kits available on Etsy. Also important: the exterior mount models cannot be installed upside down. I didn’t realize this until after installation and had to get a bit creative with soffit mounting. Overall, this is a clear upgrade over the previous generation and I would recommend it, especially if you’re already in the Ring ecosystem.

I just set up the camera and I’m very impressed. Set up was incredibly simple. Plug it in, scan the QR code, enter wifi password, let it update and then you can start setting it up or use defaults. EASY! It comes with mounting brackets but I have it inside pointing out. Turn of infrared to avoid nighttime reflections. It has a VERY long cord, which worked out great. Connection is fine so far. 4k is good, and much better than the 1080p. I’m putting up images of my ring flood that is mounted outside with a regular view and close with the same two images for the 4k camera so you can see the difference. They were taken seconds apart and screenshot from my iPad. Sound quality is not bad, but then, Ring has never had impressive sound quality for me….and I don’t really need sound as much as I need high quality images and solid connection. I don’t see any issues with reflection and you can rotate the base so the lens is right on the glass pretty much and that cuts the reflection. It’s larger and oval instead of round. It also has a very nice, wide angle with good quality even at the edges.

Excellent 4k camera that easily integrated with the rest of my Ring cameras. Images are so much better, and easy to install. Plug in version, so as long as you have power, the camera is awesome.

Update: After receiving the warranty replacement from Ring I am happy to report that the replacement has survived a couple of significant long lasting rain events unlike the first camera which died immediately after its first exposure to significant rain. So I am updating to a 3 star review from my original 2 star review of the product. I still don't like some of the design choices for this camera, however, assuming it continues to hold up in the weather it does function well and the video quality is significantly improved. However, the mic quality seems to be a downgrade from prior models. ---------- In terms of the upgrade to 4k, setup, and use, all that is what you would expect from Ring. 4k resolution and night vision clarity is fantastic. Unfortunately, camera died after a month after first good rain of the season. In typical Ring fashion customer support was excellent and got me a brand new replacement camera in about a week. There is no back cover to protect the charging port like other prior ring cameras. Technically there is a cover but it can only be installed if you do the under eve type installation, but if you installed under an eve the camera wouldn't get rained on. Also in that installation the hole to run the power cable is on top,not the bottom, so that seem like it would also let water in. In all other installations you cannot use the cover and all the water proofing for the power cable to the camera is just a rubber gasket at the end of the USB C. We will see how the replacement camera holds up in the next rain. All my other ring cameras have been up for 3-5 years exposed to rain and heat for years. This is the first one that has ever failed due to rain. Hopefully, it was just a fluke. Will update with how the replacement is holding up in a few months .

This 4k is kinda like 2k; the higher res is really just a tad better in daylight. Where this really shines is at night with the IR vision. Beats all other versions, very clear, little distortion, BUT..... surprisingly it appears only capable of B&W nite vision??? WEIRD. And its a little tuff to figure out how to hang it with the include mounting choices, but doable. Cannot rotate images!!! Rated a 4 only because of no color at nite.

The media could not be loaded. The picture on this version is definitely better than the RING Elite that it replaced. However, the RING Elite Camera was replaced due to a failure. Current instructions indicate that I should protect this unit from the sun RING Elite model made no such statement, so I installed a sunshade over the RING PRO in the south corner of my house. I like that these are POE cameras, as I only had to run one cable and could inject power with a POE switch that also powers my other 3 cameras. Very happy with the performance of most RING products. The video is just an example of the picture clarity.
