  • Had issue but Ring stood by their product
Color: White Size: 1 Camera Configuration: Plug-In
Update: ring reached out and replaced the camera after trying to help troubleshoot. Very happy with the customer service and warranty Camera set up was easy. Worked well. Two stars due to durability. After less than 1.5 years, the camera stopped powering up. I had the plugin version and tested the outlet and cord. I think the camera most likely wasn’t as water tight as advertised ... show more

Customer service reached out to me to try and resolve the issue. Excellent customer service. Thank you Harry. My camera is back in business! The camera Worked great for almost one year, stoped working right before the warranty was up. Called customer service. They had me check and double check everything to make sure it was the camera and not power or network issue. They replaced it for me with a refurbished camera. Installed that one easily and it worked fine for about a month and a half then on October 6 it stopped recording, the unit is dead. Outlet has power but the refurbished camera just died. I am not happy with this. I already own one of these for years and it’s been working without a single issue which is why I purchased this new one. Now I’m out $150 and no camera. ... show more

  • Camera died after 3 months and replacement died after 4 weeks... read this before buying

This is my 3rd Ring camera product. I have the door cam and a floodlight cam. The door cam is okay, my first of its kind, and the floodlight camera is horrible. I wrote a review on that, and it would be 10000% better if the floodlight was integrated with the camera's motion zones. So I removed the floodlight camera from where I had it, and replaced it with this. Same specs for the most part, image quality is okay, not great compared to my 4K Amcrest cameras. I have not fully tested the lights on this, since I really don't need them because I have a stand alone extremely bright LED motion light. Detection is the same as any of the Ring cams I have, and at times they all miss some type of motion/person/vehicle detecting. The door cam misses some delivery people who walk right up to my door, this is why I keep the Amcrest cameras around. Ring requires you upgrade to the Ring Standard plan that is $100+ a year. I am not overly impressed with Ring, I do admit they are super easy to setup, however so are the Amcrest cameras. Ring app and desktop dashboard are VERY basic, and have minimal configuration options. This is where Ring and Amcrest really differ. Amcrest (not amcrest home) are not for the novice techy. Amcrest has a "home" lineup that is similar to Ring cameras. Ring is on the edge of being a top camera line up if they offered PoE cameras at a competitive price, and allowed for local SD storage to eliminate the yearly subscription. Obviously this was done to bring in more revenue, but their cameras already come with a premium price tag, then add a subscription fee on top, it becomes very expensive over time. I tested out the siren, and it was laughable. Sure maybe at 2am when someone is lurking around and you're awake to trigger it, they might be startled, but I seriously doubt its going to put any fear in them. Its slightly, slightly louder than your cell phone ringer on full volume. At first I was afraid my neighbors would freak out when I turned it on. Rest assured, they won't even notice, which is bad. You'd want to have the siren loud enough to alert neighbors and scare the crap out of the intruders. Another flop by Ring. There are many videos of people getting robbed and the siren was triggered and the intruders aren't phased. Maybe louder won't matter I guess, but its not a useful feature if it doesn't work to scare them off. I gave stars for: easy setup, great for the novice, and those looking to get an entry level camera. good human/vehicle detection and alerting I took 3 stars away because: mediocre image quality delays in seeing events until they are uploaded (I have 1GB fiber and the eero router is 2' from both my cameras) poor/weak deterrent features. Siren is laughable, and so is the spotlight. PRICE + Subscription fees!!!!!!!! *Update* Took all the stars away, wish I could take the 1 star away. Now, the camera will turn motion detection off on its own. No alerts to you to tell you its like this until you go to look at the camera in the app or dashboard. This has happen 2 times since I've had it. What good is a security camera that turns itself off. Oh, I am sure Support will say "reboot it" that's not the point. If that is the solution then allow scheduled reboots. Who needs to micromanage their security cameras? I am checking to see if I can still return this. **update** there was an update I believe that fixed this glitch. **update 12/3/25 -3 months since purchase date** Device has been going off line the last 3-4 days. I have to unplug and wait 15 seconds plug it in. But it goes offline again in a couple hours or less. I’ll be calling ring support tomorrow. Do yourself a favor and avoid RING! Called Support, and they were easy to work with. I had to send them a screenshot that it was setup as "wired". I uploaded a couple pics here to show its actually powered on even though it has an error saying there's no power. I don't use any battery backups in the camera. ** Update** Support had me do a factory reset, and re-add the camera, and it still had the same power error. Since its still under the 1yr limited warranty they are sending a replacement. Hoping that one lasts a lot longer. I have Amcrest cameras still, I am not taking them down since I can't fully trust the Ring cameras. My Amcrest cameras are over 7yrs old, no $100 yearly subscription, just think about it, I'd have paid out $700 by now if they were subscription based, which makes me rethink this Ring lineup. The replacement took about 3 weeks to arrive. How horrible is that? ** Update 1/13/2026** (replacement camera is dead too!!) The replacement camera was installed and worked from around 12/26/2025 until 1/12/2026. I noticed the same "offline" icon. This time, all attempts to get the camera to power back on didn't work. Tested the USBC power adapter they provided and it gave power to my laptop and my iphone when tested. I also used an alternative USBC power source and the camera did not work. Press and held the reset button, nothing.... no power light no signs of life. 3 days before the unit died, we had rain. I am 100% positive these Spotlight Cam Plus cameras are NOT waterproof due to the exposed USBC port in the rear of the camera. I own a Flood light camera, that has not had this issue however its power source is being hardwired (like a light fixture). This prevents any openings to the camera. I removed the Spotlight cam from its mount and shook it, I could hear what sounded like water inside. I worked with support, no matter how confident I was in the unit being dead from rain, they still wanted pictures of the unit, front and back. No idea why, but fine. Once I get the replacement I will sell it privately since they refuse to give me a different camera. I offered to pay the price difference. ... show more

  • Want a camera that just works and works well?
Color: White Size: 1 Camera Configuration: Plug-In
I’m an installer for Ring as well as multiple other brands and hands down Rings cameras are what I recommend to my customers. They stand up to our harsh weather in SWFL, they have great WiFi radios to connect even through stucco and cement block, and the app is easy to navigate for customers. I do think it’s funny that the install times listed by Ring say 10-15mins on products like the video doorbells, spotlight cams and flood lights cams. I install these items all the time and consider myself pretty quick and there is no way I can remove a doorbell, install the transformer, install the chime diode, install the Ring doorbell and set up in the app in 15mins. With no interruptions and no surprises I can knock out a doorbell in 45mins. ... show more

5/23/24 review for NEW version. Great camera, easy set up, excellent clarity, intuitive settings. I’ve learned to only buy NEW Ring cameras on sale and skip the refurbs. See my rationale below from the other Ring camera I bought that was refurbed and trouble. 5 stars for new new Ring camera, 3 for Refurb, 4 overall. Original review 3/21 for Refurb version - This review is for Ring refurbished cameras ONLY! My 10+ years of experience with new and refurbed Ring cameras is summed up here: I’ve never had an issue with a new Ring camera - ever. Doesn’t mean you won’t but they have been far more reliable than refurbs in my experience. When working properly and given proper WiFi signal, new and refurbs connect quickly and work exceptionally well - until the refurbs suddenly die. I have had issues with 3 Ring refurbished cameras. I will no longer buy them refurbished - new but only when on sale. If a refurbished Ring camera suddenly dies after purchase and it won’t reconnect quickly after reasonable effort, call their tech line and run through their testing protocol, their folks are patient and helpful. It may take 30 minutes on the phone but it’s the quickest way to get a replacement unit for a defective model or to uncover some weird problem that is described everywhere except the Ring website. I’d give the tech number here but Amazon probably won’t allow it so you’re on your own locating it and calling Ring tech with camera failures. It’s a well disguised number on the Ring website. Good luck if their refurb cameras die because getting a new one takes some effort and patience. But the Ring camera experience (new and refurb) overall is 4.5+ stars! Good luck! ... show more
