Ring has come a long way in the nearly 10 years I have been buying their products since the pre-Amazon acquisition era. This camera took me 15 minutes to install (with an existing wall mount and power supply) and 10 minutes to set up which included the motion zones, light and other settings. I waited another 5 minutes for the camera to update. The cord length is great and I wound up coiling about 1/3 of the cord into the 4x4x6 exterior box where I installed this camera. I did not know that it’s possible to swap the rear mounting knob on the back of the camera case 180 degrees. The reason I mention that fact is it’s possible to ceiling mount this camera and have the image be correct - not upside down. The only other Ring camera I am aware of that allows ceiling mounting out of the box is the Ring indoor stick up camera that has a setting to swap the image 180 degrees. That opens the door for me to replace some ancient Vimtag ceiling cameras that are junk with this camera. The next big Ring sale that pops up will allow me to replace those Vimtag cameras. The camera works fine as well as motion detector. However the speaker is apparently broken as neither the microphone aspect or siren are functional. I don't really use these features, but its bothersome they don't work on a new purchase. Similarly, the other Ring light camera i have as a very bright, white light. This one has a yellowish color and is not very bright. Its barely acceptable. Just beware that these units can vary, apparently, in the amount of light they release. There is no light quality adjustment that i could find. UPDATE: After posting this review, I was contacted by ring. They reached out to me. After a consult with a Ring service representative. It was determined that the Ring camera light I purchased from Amazon was defective. They arranged to send me a new camera light and it was received 2 days later. They bent over backwards to try to make thibgs right, and they did. The new product works perfectly. So I have updated my rating to reflect this outcome. Thanks Ring. ... show more

Ring is a great product. The camera is crystal clear both day and night. The field of view is tremendous, and installation was simple and quick. Wish the mounting bracket was more durable than a simple piece of plastic. Ring needs to improve the locking mechanism on the swivel ball as you cant seem to tighten enough to lock camera in place. Lastly, if you plan to record, you will need to add this product to your Ring plan agreement. Overall, with the minor flaws, it's still a good product that we would definitely recommend. ... show more

First one received didn’t work but great customer service support. Replaced device was easy to setup and gave exactly the coverage needed. Used a gutter mount and plugged into existing outdoor floodlight socket. Bought a screw in plug adapter, screwed it into the light socket and plugged in the wire. Easy and inexpensive way to “hard wire” device. Just be sure the floodlight mount is not motion sensitive, otherwise it won’t work properly. ... show more

Lasted almost a month, no longer works. Missed return window. Sad because I have 5 other ring products that work fine. Update: customer service called me and after a quick assessment replaced my camera. The company has been outstanding.

This started off great, until it rain. Now it shows in settings it's in plug in mood, but yet I can't use the camera because it shows battery low. There is no battery, it's a plug in. Luckily it rain before it was pass the time line for a refund. You think if ring design this toward outside they would of ensure the c type plug would be water proof. 8-4-23. Update: I change this to 5 start because I had a friend who not long ago bought the same thing. I help install it. 3 days later it rain and it rain very hard. They had no problems with there camera. It has rain a few times since they had it. I have 6 ring cameras and they all have been great. I guess the one I got was bad. So base on the one my friend got, I updated my 3 to a 5. Also I like to say Aaron who is with Ring customer service has email me to make things right. They were will to replace my bad one but I had already sent it back for a refund.     • Ring Video Cam would not connect! Tried 10 times!

I received this Ring Video Cam and tried to connect to my Ring App that was already on my Android phone and it would not connect! I tried connecting to Bluetooth and it said i need the App and would not connect and i tried it 5 times! I scanned the QR code on the cam and tried going through all the prompts. I already have 2 other Ring devices and have the app on my Android phone! I finally decided to call the number for support and the tech pretty much had me go through all the same process i had just tried before. We tried at least another 5 times but it still would not connect! I finally told him i was just going to return it the next day. And that's exactly what i did. I thought about having them send another replacement but i have no confidence that another one may end up having the same problem. I saw some other reviews that stated they had the same problem. Some of these Ring cams may just be defective. Maybe the software is the problem being an older model (2022) I am wondering if they may have sent me a returned video cam that already had an issue. I thought after having two other Ring Devices and the app on my phone everything would connect and i could have easily set up the new device through the Ring app. The Ring device did show on the Bluetooth list but when i tapped it it just kept saying i "needed the app" and it would not connect. Ridiculous....Very disappointed!!! ... show more
