  • Works perfect WITH a learning curve
Configuration: 1-Pack Outdoor Contact Sensor
I returned the first one of these I got because I couldn’t get the tampered warning to go away. After my new one came in I got it figured out. The best trick, is to use the sticky strip to keep it where you want it, then screw the screws in to hold it in place. The screws do NOT need to be tightened, just in enough to hold it if the sticky part wears off. I used this method and it’s working perfectly. No tampered indicators. Also, my fence is not perfectly aligned and the sensor still reads accurately. 10/10 recommend ... show more

  • Works, but tamper switch and mounts are weak; likely won’t last long
Configuration: 1-Pack Outdoor Contact Sensor
As others said, the range is good and it is tolerant of wide gap (~1 inch) between sensor and magnet, which is needed for outdoor gates . But the tamper switch on bottom is very flaky. If the base is not fully supported across its entire width, the tamper switch will incorrectly trip. It is a nuisance. It would have been better to leave this feature out entirely. Also, while it seems nice that the mounting base for the sensor and magnet are removable, this is really a major weakness. The mounting tabs that hold the sensor and magnet to their bases are very thin and weak. I won’t be surprised if they completely break off within a month. On the first day after I installed a this on my side gate my gardener knocked the magnet completely off its mount by slamming the gate. I don’t blame him. The mount is far too fragile for real use on real gates. I will likely need to just give and permanently screw or zip tie them down (which is how they should have been made from the start). Also, I suspect the brown plastic case will become brittle and crack within 2 or 3 hot California summers. So, while they seem to work, I have little confidence they will last very long. I expected better from Ring/Amazon. ... show more

Configuration: 1-Pack Outdoor Contact Sensor
It's a little bulky, but ok. Works just fine and it is weather resistant.

  • "Boost Home Security: Ring's Outdoor Sensor!"
Configuration: 1-Pack Outdoor Contact Sensor
I'm thrilled with the Ring Alarm Outdoor Contact Sensor! Setting it up was a breeze. The instructions were straightforward, and the app guided me through the process. The sensor's performance is top-notch. It reliably detects any activity around my outdoor entry points and sends instant alerts to my phone. This added layer of security brings peace of mind. Durability is impressive. It's built to withstand the elements, and it's held up perfectly through rain and varying temperatures. I appreciate the battery life; it's been months and it's still going strong. Plus, replacing the battery was a cinch. As part of my whole Ring security system, this sensor is a great addition. It seamlessly integrates with other Ring devices, expanding my home security network. In a nutshell, Ring Alarm Outdoor Contact Sensor is a must-have. Easy to set up, dependable, and durable. For anyone looking to enhance their home security, especially within a Ring ecosystem, this is a fantastic investment! ... show more

  • Expensive
Configuration: 2-Pack Outdoor Contact Sensor
Removing one start as these sensors are basically twice the price of the regular sensors. I also bought a hand-made mount for my garage door on a popular craft e-commerce site that works great with this sensor, and knows when my garage door opens and closes. Now I have sensors on every door and window to my home and garage. And that's not nothing. ... show more

  • These work, but needed some duct tape
Configuration: 2-Pack Outdoor Contact Sensor
I bought these to go with my Ring alarm system and to be placed on my wood fence gate. They are about twice the size of the Ring indoor sensors and come with a mount, and you can slide the sensors out to replace the batteries. We installed them with minimal issues on our wood gate door. The problem was when our weekly landscapers let the gate shut, they sensors would fly off. We noticed they were showing open when the gate was closed and found them in a nearby flowerbed. After the second time this happened, I added some duct tape to attach them to the mounting piece a little better and they have stayed put. They are a little pricey, but they work well once you figure out how to attach them properly and securely. I like getting notified when my gate opens and being able to check the app to confirm that the gate is shut. If you worry about your gates, it might be worth trying them if you already have a Ring alarm system. I do not know if they work just by having the doorbell or if you need the alarm system. ... show more

  • Great Contact Sensor
Configuration: 1-Pack Outdoor Contact Sensor
This is a great Ring contact sensor. I've had one of these installed for almost two years and it still has nearly full battery power. Batteries are easy to replace and the sensor was easy to install. The adhesive works great and the sensor has screw holes and two screw kits for hard-mounting it.

  • You need Ring alarm system to use sensors.
Configuration: 1-Pack Outdoor Contact Sensor
I wish I knew that I needed a Ring alarm system in order to use this sensor. We have many Ring products but not the alarm system. So I spent $50.00 on something I cannot use.
