I needed sunglasses that kept the sun out of your eyes, even on the sides, and not bulky to fit over other glasses. So these are great if you don't wear glasses or do wear contacts. And they are stylish. I keep them in the car but will take them with me if I'll be walking in sunlight for any length of time. The only drawback I noticed is that they are not perfectly 'clear' when looking through the lenses. I don't know if it's the plastic or how the lens portion is made or the coating on the plastic.
