I honestly thought the Ray-Ban Meta glasses would be a gimmick, but I use them way more than expected. The hands-free photos/videos are super convenient, the sound quality is surprisingly good, and phone calls are very clear. Best part is they actually look like normal stylish sunglasses. Battery life could be better, but overall they’re one of the coolest tech purchases I’ve made in a while. Cost may be a little much, but so worth it.

The one feature and main reason I purchased was for a trip to Mexico. The commercial shows the girl going to a beach party and the glasses translate a sign from Spanish to English. The feature is access by saying "hey Meta, what am i looking at?" I tested this out before leaving Des Moines and it worked fine in my condo. I get to Mexico and the glasses reply with this feature is not available! I was showing the glasses to a friend bragging about the translation feature. We try several times and it doesn't work. I snap pictures and show to my friend and also listen to music. Music sounds good but the induction speakers do not offer any privacy and could be heard by others around us. Back in my hotel room and try the "Hey Meta, what am I looking at?" And get the same reply that it's not available. Hop on Google and discover this feature is only available in the US, Canada and Australia. This should be included in the advertising! The camera is great and takes good pix and video. However you cannot zoom, at least I didn't figure out how to zoom during my time with the glasses. They are also really not water resistant so use at your own risk at the pool, on a boat or on the beach. Battery life was decent and the charging case helps to ease battery anxiety. They are heavy IMO and too chunky for my own personal taste. More style options would be great. It's a nice first attempt but not ready for prime time esp at nearly $400.

I bought these at the lady minute before my vacation. I didn't want to carry a camera or have to drain my phone battery. The battery charge on my Ray-Ban glasses lasted longer than my 7 day trip. Meta answered questioned and pprovided information at what I was looking at. I took so many pictures and my family also used them. These make a great gift. I may need to invest in some was a darker shade for my eyes.

These glasses were bought for me as a gift. They were comfortable to wear. They kept telling me to download some META VIEW app which as far as I could tell, doesn’t EXIST. I kept arguing with them, and they finally admitted Meta View has been discontinued and Just use Meta AI app. It seems to me one single employee should have updated that info so I didn’t have to struggle just to upload the glasses and connect to my device. Can Meta not keep up to date on its own infrastructure? I am not a huge tech user, I try avoid to avoid=, however i did like the idea of being able to wear glasses in my yard and asking hey meta how can i propagate this fern? Hey Meta, why is this banana tree so yellow? hey Meta, does kumquat need special fertilizer? Hey Meta, can i defeat spider mites before they happen on my hops plants? However, META cannot identify any of my plants, it takes wild guesses at what it is looking at, and only gives very generalized info on any plant care instead of the specific info I thought would be beneficial to me in my use of technology. i can get better identification from the free version of ChatGPT when i upload a pic. It gives very zoomed in info for a frozen or more plants in a single dim-lit photo. But META cannot identify one single plant even iof you name the plant for it. It will second guess you, like “IF this is Canterbury bells, like you say…” and still gives bad info. google AI actually is very thorough, but you cannot upload pics to it. It also kept telling me I needed to close the app and reload it, even when it was within my first 2 hours of using, and each 2 hour session after. The battery only lasted 2-3 hours if you’re playing music. I do love the music feature and not needing any ear phones or ear buds, but headphones o ear buds -those will last a week or two, meanwhile these glasses need re-charged every 2-3 hours. I love the idea of the glasses but they are FAR from ready to be useful. I didnt try using them to upload a pic or video to online, but it was SUCH a chore just to get the Meta AI to look at the pic I had taken, to try to identify a plant or answer a question, I cannot even imagine what a HASSLE it would be to try to upload or edit anything from the glasses to a website or online. I think Meta has tons of money and should develop a superior product. But even me, an almost Boomer, very low expectation user was very disappointed and actually Quite frustrated with Meta AI- META needs to work on their AI being more efficient and crisp in being able to search the web and finding detailed answers. Their AI was also - how do I put this? - Rude! ! - - When you’re used to being honey talked in AI, the AI. Model they’re using is very robotic and unsympathetic, and actually sounds snotty or stuck up in comparison. I don’t want to be brown-nosed, but, if you can’t even answer a basic, “What is This plant” and don’t know what the plant is ( a common one) and then ask me if I want more info on best soil types and how to get the coloration I inquired about, and I say yes, and then you ask me the same questions 3 more times, and then just say “save seed from the variety you desire”- that’s useless. And I send 4 pics of a plant with powdery mildew, and it asked for more , but taken from my phone, so I take 5 more, have to figure out how to upload them to the app, and it still says I cannot tell it that is powdery mildew, but if you have it, then do X- ( it was a severe obvious case of powdery mildew) I used these glasses for 4 sessions. Each session only lasted 2-3 hours. Because the battery dies. Each session I was told at some point to restart the app due to come issue, even though, when i asked Meta, it told me it uses my Phone’s cellular DATA, and not a Wi-Fi connection. It said I dont need to keep my phone with me, but Also that it doesn’t use my internet network. I did keep my phone with me, in my pocket, while out in my yard, doing things with my plants. While wearing the glasses. 50% of the time it would “chime” but give no response at all/. Or tell me I need to restart my app. I don’t think that is a good product if it can’t stay connected or needs to be restarted at home, with the phone within 2 feet of the glasses, unlimited premium WI-FI through my cellular AT&T carrier. I have unlimited WI-FI as well with wiresless extenders and my phone doesnt have any issues working in my yard. So why do my glasses keep disconnecting, if I am literally wearing my phone WITh my glasses? Very bummed these glasses don’t work as expected, and I think I had very minimal expectations! I’m not asking them to build my social media content and profile and create videos and answer my emails and go through my billing. I just want silly answers like should i add more cleated iron for this plant. Obviously this tech is wasted on losers like me ( or That guy should spend more money and development on making a useful product since they keep telling us AI is inevitable and we better get on board”

Lenses are more bulky than I thought they would be. Almost feel like you are wearing a pair of reading glasses on. Some of the videos seem to be grainy. Pictures have been great! Definitely worth buying but just giving you a true review so you have all the facts. Charging case works great on the go.
