  • Very nice! Lots of range!
Klowra builds some seriously nice pedals with a lot of ambient tonal options with good sweeps on the knobs allowing you to dial in all kinds of wild and really amazing tones. The pedal itself is built in a solid metal housing, meaning it is extremely durable. The footswitch is the standard type that can be used as an on/off button, but also the ability to hold down for additional functionality, which is part of what makes this pedal so much fun. The knobs are a good quality plastic and they turn very smoothly, with no 'grit'. The LED is bright, but not blinding. Overall, an extremely well put together pedal! You can dial in a standard delay type of tone, but can also achieve an almost tremolo effect from this, making it almost multi-function in design, which enhances the variety of the tones you can get. The tones can be as simple as you need, or extremely complex with low-fi tonality and manipulating the mix and feedback knobs to get some truly crazy, way out there, kind of sounds. The lag and rate knobs are the meat and potatoes of the pedal that allow for the normal, delay sounds, but playing with the head volume, feedback and lo-fi knobs, sweeping them back and forth, you can dial in some truly spacy sounds that really sound pretty cool. This is what I call a hyper-function pedal. It isn't a multi-effect unit, but there are a LOT of sounds inside this box, and I'm loving it! ... show more

  • Coolest delay pedal I've ever owned
I also have Klowra's Sprout and Verdict pedals, and I absolutely love what they're doing here. They start with basic effects but turn them into elaborate soundscapes through additional sound options, stereo outs, and the ability to "ramp" between settings with an expression pedal. So instead of just a normal delay with a tap tempo function, with the Rilum you can make the repeats swell, or make them "groove" with different subdivisions of the beat, or give everything a lo-fi vibe, and you can use your expression pedal to change between settings if you want to store two options or change how it sounds mid-song. It only took a few minutes of playing with this to know that it's the delay I want to keep on my pedal board, because it does the usual basic stuff but also gives you so many other options. The one caveat I'd note is that while you can do a lot by just plugging it in and twisting the knobs, ultimately you HAVE to go online and download the full manual -- and prepare to invest some time futzing with everything if you want to make the most of it. There's a lot of stuff lurking in the knobs that isn't obvious, as well as in the color-changing LED (the key to doing tap tempo and ramping). They really should include a full paper copy with the pedal. ... show more

  • Another really fun and great-sounding pedal from Klowra
As with all Klowra pedals, this one takes some getting used to in order to really discover it's full potential. So far, I'm having a lot of fun with it. At a very basic introductory level, the pedal gives you some interesting flanger-like sounds from 0 to about noon on the Lag Time knob, then you start to get into delay territory past that point. Messing with the Heads Vol and Lo-Fi knobs allows you to add some extra repeat varieties, texture, and color to your repeats, as expected. In true Klowra fashion, you can get as wild as you like with Tap Tempo, Twisted Tempo, and Ramp Control, with results ranging from unique and beautiful to somewhat chaotic. The artwork is incredible, and you'll never be disappointed with how a Klowra pedal looks on your board. All in all, if you're looking for a basic tape delay, this will work wonderfully for that, but the Rilum is so much more than a basic tape delay pedal. And they somehow manage to keep all of their pedals reasonably affordable, which is an impressive feature in itself. Whether you want to get weird and create massive soundscapes or just want a great quality tape delay, the Rilum has you covered. ... show more

  • Deep, Creative Tape Delay with Tons of Character
The media could not be loaded. This pedal definitely lives up to the reputation Klowra has built. Right out of the box, the build quality stands out it feels solid, road ready, and well made, not flimsy or cheap in any way. The artwork is gorgeous too, which honestly just makes it more inspiring to have on the board. Sound wise, this pedal has a huge range. At lower lag time settings, you can get subtle modulation and flanger like textures, and as you push it further, it opens up into rich, warm tapestyle delays. The multi head behavior adds depth and movement that feels alive rather than static, with just the right amount of randomness and saturation to keep things interesting. The Tap Tempo, Twisted Tempo, and Ramp controls are where this pedal really shines. You can keep things musical and controlled, or intentionally push it into warped, unstable territory for ambient swells and evolving soundscapes. It rewards experimentation, and the more time you spend with it, the more it gives back. I also really appreciate the analog dry through and stereo outputs your core tone stays intact, and the pedal sits beautifully in a mix whether you’re running mono or stereo. It can easily function as a straightforward tape delay, but it’s capable of so much more if you want to get weird and creative. For the price, I’m genuinely impressed. You get a wide variety of usable delay sounds, boutique-level aesthetics, and a sturdy, professional feel without paying boutique prices. Whether you’re chasing classic tape echoes or expansive, experimental textures, this pedal delivers. ... show more
