    • Cheap not worth the price.
I bought the first one Ridgid saw back in 2008. Switch smoked and stop working two weeks ago. Can't get parts of coarse. Wish I looked closer to the cheap new one, I would of spent the extra for Bosch. Ridgid WILL NOT get anymore business from me on any products the sell.

NOTE: My purchase wasn't from Amazon. I bought at HD... The only review on this saw (at time of writing this) was negative. While that person's experience is their own, mine has been fabulous. The saw came with a stand that never had a purpose in my garage-shop, so it got stowed away. It doesn't appear to be the best item out there, but back to the saw... Great machine for a beginner or part-time DIY people. ANY saw you buy needs to be checked for squareness before you use it, Aldine was no exception. Patience IS a virtue! Once properly squared to the miter slots, the saw has ran great, made good cuts, and functions well as my DIY / Hobby saw. The Mitre gauge leaves a lot to be desired where absolute precision matters, but it ISN'T a cabinet saw! The throat plate is a little on the flimsy side but works well. The power switch is well thought out and functions well on my unit. Some minor peeves (for me)... The blade adjustment will work loose from time to time and allow the depth of cut to fall. Vibration isn't a friend! The throat plate could stand some reinforcing to make it not sag or droop while putting downforce on it. (I remedied mine with steel AND JB weld and use a zero-clearance plate for most work.) Using a cross-cut sled would be the best recommendation for this. The Mitre Gauge sucks. Most saws have a crappy one anyway, so look to upgrade if it's going to be used a lot. PRO'S Robust construction Dependable Light enough to be portable, but heavy enough to not "walk" around.
