  • Nice coco chips for my ball python! Great price!
Size: 72 Quart
At first I was worried I got slightly ripped off as my block had the label for the 8.8 pound option when I ordered the 10 pound block. But i weighed it and it seemed to be a 10lb block just labeled at 8.8lb, not sure what that was about but im happy with the purchase. Smelled as it should and it looks great in the terrarium! Expanded ALOT! ... show more

  • Using it for mulch. Looks great. Compact.
Size: 60 Quart
To get an idea of how much it expands, you can take a look at my before and after photos. Note in the after photo, the block had not completely expanded. I kept breaking it up and adding water and there was still more to go at the time I took the picture. I'm very happy using these coconut chips as mulch/ground cover. This looks fantastic around and under my rose bushes. I'm confident that it will, over time, blend with my topsoil and add nutrients to the soil. I'm not clear on how much one should pay for a product like this, but it seems to be priced competitively. ... show more

  • The Coconut Chips that Exceed Expectations as a Substrate for our Scaly Friends
Size: 60 Quart
Thats a big Brick! I seen the photos and read the product description and it looked like deal. I needed a lot but I only got one since this was my first time getting this brand and that if I liked it I could order more rather than get stuck with coconut chips I didn't like. Box arrived and I wasn't sure what it what was dues to its size however when I opened it, it was not what I expected. This is a lot more than I was expecting, then I thought well they must not have compressed it like my old brand. Wrong again, it expands the same, if not more than my usual type. It is also not as sharp or as slivery and edges are soft (not too spongy though) so not to irritate my scaly friend. If he could talk I am sure he would approve as well. Fortunately I only used about half of it otherwise I would had about 5-times too much from the amount I needed. I did end up applying a few inches deeper due to ending up with much more than normal which he appears to like, he is definitely a more active digger now. It works extremely well in maintaining and retaining the humidity in his habitat. It works well for spot cleaning areas where he has left his "gifts" thanking my for the food. Overall, Riare Coconut Chips has exceeded my expectations and is new my goto product for coconut chip substrate. 5- Stars ... show more

  • Great for plants 10/10
Size: 60 Quart
Used for my aroid soil mix. Turned out fantastic, and it makes a TON. I didn't have a bin large enough to make the whole thing so I pulled it apart in chunks, I still have over half the brick left and have had enough to make two full totes of potting mix already. I really like this brand over the other compressed coco I've tried, the chunks are good size and a nice mix of solid/fibrous, whereas most others lean heavily into fibers. The solid pieces really help with drainage. I repotted a lot of my large plants when I brought them inside for the winter and they have been thriving. Love it. ... show more

  • Breaks up eventually
Size: 60 Quart
Takes some time to break apart and soak up water. But more than doubles in size and goes a long ways. My snakes don’t seem to mind it. Great product

  • Goes a long way, easy to rehydrate & allows easy spot cleaning
Size: 60 Quart
I’m rehabilitating an injured frog & used this for his substrate. He had 3 injured legs so I had him in a 5 gallon tank to limit his movement while he healed. He can stand up and move now so I just transferred him into a 20 gallon so he can walk around. I used 1/4 of the bag so I could add a lot to be able to sink his house deep enough to not be very high in case he attempted to jump. I was able to sculpt this bedding like a ramp so he can easily go up and down. He loves sitting on top of his house but he hasn’t healed enough yet to jump down. I can easily spot clean the areas needed and have plenty left over to fill a 40 gallon when he’s healed enough. I used a clean 5 gallon bucket to soak this. I let it soak for about an hour. It helps to keep humidity up in his tank because it retains moisture from the soak and also from daily misting. ... show more
