The product box was plain, hinting that the product would be the same. I was disappointed to pull the all-plastic light out of the box, feeling how cheap and flimsy the light was. I was surprised that the LEDs are only around the outer ring with only a plastic cover to hide the wiring in the center of the light. To me, it looked like the product photos showed that the center of the light was the white LED, and the outer ring was the RGB mood light. I pulled the outer ring cover off the expose the LEDs to take a photo for this review. The installation was very quick, only taking eight minutes to remove the old light and swap it out with the new one. The new screws were too short, so I just used the screws from the old light. I was surprised by the brightness of the light! This thing is fantastic and looks really good after being installed; not looking as cheap as it did out of the box. The 6500k white light is way brighter than the other colors as they are more mood lighting but bright enough to use as a light for the bedroom. My daughter loves it! In my opinion, it is well worth the $36. I will update this review if we experience any issues with the light. ... show more

    • Pretty good little light
So I had one complaint when installing - the wires are pretty darn short. If you're putting this up in a spot that has minimal slack on the Romex in the ceiling, you're gonna have to make yourself a bit of an extension. An extra 2-3" of wire coming off would have prevented this. After that though, it's actually pretty bright, and if it's complementing a second larger light fixture in a room, then it easily provides additional accent. The RGB = fun touch. Somehow, our remote ended up being without batteries, so there was also that inconvenience. We did discover you can alter the white light tone simply by turning it on and off again at the switch, though. Once we got some batteries for the remote, the dimmer has a very nice range, and of course now we can play with the RGB. ... show more

This light completely changed the look/feel of my bedroom. It would be frowned upon if I had it in the Living Room with a red or blue light. Very colorful/bright.

1 star off for brightness. It is ok in a small area but say for a medium to large size bedroom, I say no. It does have a place in the bathroom where usually there is more then 1 light, but does fine even if there is not. It's light cast won't go to the corners like a square light to see in corners, hence the issue with med to large rooms. Multiple colors so it also works well if your bathroom is near your bedroom and you don't want to close the door and then proceed to blind the person asleep.     • Overall -- a fantastic ceiling light w many features!
I couldn't believe all the features with this light, and a pretty reasonable price at about $40. A few quibbles, but not worth dinging a star. First, because of the physical design (my girlfriend said it looks like a ufo, whatever) it's true it will not light the ceiling itself. I have oil paintings hanging almost to the ceiling of my 12 x 12ft studio. The painting within 2.5 inches of the ceiling is a bit dim on the top edge. The painting 4" from the ceiling is lit just fine. That is the ONLY lighting issue (for avg sized rooms); 200 watt equivalent shines downward with plenty of power to clean every bdrm corner, this is a 360 degree ring of light. Ok, to my very minor quibbles. I do like the 7 colors a lot, especially blue and purple. But every time I switch to RGB/colors (from white or warm light) I have to toggle thru red first, a couple others, I think blue and purple are #s 4 and 5. It doesn't remember the last color I was on, except at my light switch, if that was the last setting I used. And not really a quibble, just be aware the night light has just 2 settings: 3000K and 6500K. --- I love this light overall! When I first put it in, it came on full blast at 6500K and my first thought was, holy cow, this is the equivalent of one of my 12 inch solar tubes!! I love the warm to cool light variety, I think it changes 500K with each click, plus all the 7 colors are fun! (also be aware the 7 colour settings are not dimmable, they are just right for a nice party or calm situation, maybe 60W equivalent tops, which is a good thing actually) ... show more

    • Great light for a small bedroom
I installed this in my kids bedroom and removed the 70's style 2 bulb ceiling light. This puts out a little more light than the old unit but doesn't light up the walls quite as much. Not a big deal for me but others may not like that. The kiddo likes the fact that it has a remote and he can change colors and white K values at will. Unfortunately, he is also a kid and will likley misplace said remote by the end of the day. You can also cycle through settings by turning the light on and off quickly but it's not as robust as the remote. Install was fairly easy and it screwed right into the flush mount ceiling fixture without any hassle. The machine screws provided lined up perfectly with the fixture but they do include drywall anchor for mounting. Not sure who would use that as not having a junction box is against most, if not all, electrical codes so I saved it for use on a future project. ... show more
