I usually put custom firmware on all my handhelds and they work much better, I installed mustard OS on this and it runs great. The screen is a nice and bright. Surprisingly decent. I assumed the build quality would be sub-Temu-esque, but it’s actually pretty great. The unit is solid, the buttons clicky. Analog sticks are surprisingly fine, although when they’re this small they can be fiddly to use (which is a size thing, not a quality thing). A good value, I think. Note that while there is included software, items like this are really designed for you to load more which is why it possesses an extra microSD slot. So, it’s not really so much what’s included but the fact that it can easily load and play home brew, pico games, and more. Pros: great build quality, robust functionality, very good screen, long lasting battery Cons: slightly janky software, some software is in Chinese (although that isn’t a problem if you know Chinese), familiarity with Linux filesystems can be helpful

I loved it. For like 10 minutes. I booted it up, played about 10 minutes of games to test it out, then set it down for 4-5 hours. When I came back it wouldn't turn back on with the original SD card. I've tried pressing the reset button, checking if the screen brightness was turned all the way down and even flashed muOS (tried 3 versions) to 3 different microSD cards to see if it was a card issue. None of those worked. I'm convinced I got a faulty unit which is unfortunate. I'm going to return and try again. If the next one works I'll update my review.

Really enjoy the retro handheld emulator. It’s the perfect screen dimensions to play GBA style games. I would not get this device expecting to run any 3D style games, but hopefully you realize that before you are looking in this emulator price range. It is the gameboy advance sp reincarnated. It is high quality on the button input and a great value for the money. The game selection that was on the device is… okay… but I would expect to put your own ROMs from the games you already own onto it, instead of relying on the pre downloaded games.

I bought all the accessories for this, I thought it was amazing when it first came out before I had my steamdeck oled, I took great care of this and barley used it, bc I got a steamdeck, one day I came back to it bc I kept a few save files on it of ff7 , And the hinge was broken… i barely even played it, but when that happens it’s over, basically one side screw of the hinge fell out, and soon after the whole thing unraveled, so idk,

To start this review, although it doesn't say Anbernic on it, this is the same device as their RG34XXSP. This one actually came with 2GB of ram instead of the updated Anbernic models now having one. I grew up with the GBA SP. I still have it. I have tons of other handhelds like the Ayn Thor, miyoo mini/mini+, trimui brick, etc, but I wanted something that can do gba really good. I got the rg34xx and that was great, but nowadays while that was comfy as a kid, the controls now are too small on that thing. So I decided to try the 34XXSP instead, and boy what a difference. The screen is an incredible upgrade over the old GBA screen. It's bigger and more vibrant. This screen is the native resolution for gba so you don't need to stretch it or have black bars. The controls aren't bad, I like the D pad, but everything is the usual clicky buttons, whereas I prefer the silent mushy style of the gba or something like the miyoo mini. I also play nes, snes, ps1, gb, gbc, gba, genesis, and some n64 (Mario kart, sm64, etc) with no issues. It goes without saying that you really should put a custom OS on it, the stock software sucks. I have KNULLI on it and it works great. Others like MuOS but I personally found it too complicated. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and it's going to be my new primary handheld.

This is more like a mobile device while it's main use is obviously running emulators it does have the ability for music, books and even a integrated connection with some weird Chinese Social media site. I do not have the know how but I imagine you could do interesting things with this device's file system. That being said it still is fairly cheap Chinese made and the menu is a little odd. Emulators: I bought it for the ability to play the Gameboy games which was perfect for this notable emulators would be PSP PS1 NDS (The Dual screen that doesnt fit along with the need to use the virtual stylus makes many games very difficult to play) N64 (This barely runs with the hardware though) MAME and several other arcade machines GB, GBA ,GBC NES, SNES (And the Japanese counter parts) SEGA32X ROMS: The library collection is very erratic in general expect to get the roms yourself I could hardly find a single mainstream nintendo game but they had Golden sun 1 and 2 which was surprising the n64 had all of 10 games (that once again struggle to run) The file system is fairly straight forward with installing roms it is stored on a microSD being that the SD it comes with looks cheap and many people are complaining how fragile it is i would recommend making a copy and having an SD substitute available. One complaint is despite it using a USB to charge it does not connect to devices meaning i need to physically remove the memory card and connect it alone. It works for what it is (a mobile emulator for most games up to 2000 and hand held games through the NDS generation) but with the inconvenience associated with doing so and most people carrying machines that could just as easily do that (Finding an emulator downloading the roms) and more, with the equal amount of maintenance from having battery life. I'm a little bit torn between just liking it for what it is or that I like it through rose tinted glasses.
