How is there no red ring?
In my opinion this is just an L lens missing the red ring. It has left me speechless after agonizing between this lens and a 24-70 L that’s twice the weight. I recently tested it at length on a honeymoon and it knocked it out of the park in every situation - people, portraits, landscapes, low light, bright light - just incredible. It is by far the most versatile lens I’ve ever owned. It is feather light and so compact. Some people gripe, but I think the feature where you can’t shoot with it until it’s slightly extended is a brilliant and worthy trade off for the size savings. I had it on my R8 clipped via peak design clip onto my camera bag strap during hikes (and tough ones at that) and it was manageable to the point where I barely noticed it was on me. Same with clipping it onto my belt. I have even played around with the video and have been just as impressed. I have long been irritated with cannon for not allowing many third party L-mount lenses, but this lens has shut me up. I am to the point where I will probably sell my 35mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8 because I can’t ever see myself carrying them in this lens’s place. I’m quite literally considering downsizing to a smaller bag because this lens is, in my opinion, sharper than Canon’s non-L prime.

Love!
I’m usually a prime girly. I usually had my 35mm on my camera at all times. Ever since I got this lens it doesn’t come off my body. I couldn’t justify buying the more expensive version quite yet, but I think this does the job just as good for now! Sharp, lightweight, and perfect range for couples, families, and portraits.

This has become my everyday use lens. I’m still very new to photography but I’ve enjoyed how versatile this lens is. The weight is not too heavy and it’s not too big either. It’s very easy to use but of course I have plenty more to learn. Many friends also gave me high praise for it and have now purchased it after they used mine.

Just do it, it’s a steal!
Fantastic lens! I’ve only shot with “L” glass with the exception of a very sharp Tamron 24-70 that this is replacing (sent it to my sister). The focus is fast without any hunting, the image is sharp and the bokeh is beautiful. I’m really pleased with this lens and it’s so light!

Really loving this lens so far! The colors are super vibrant and make my photos pop without feeling overdone. I’ve been really happy with the image quality, and it’s been a fun lens to use for my photography. Definitely happy with this purchase!

I’ve rented the 24-70 2.8 USM lens and this truly compares to it. I wasn’t expecting it to be anywhere near the quality but it sure is. Canon stepped up their game. The zoom is easy to use. A lot of people complain you have to put it into shooting mode but that literally doesn’t even matter for me and it’s really not that big of an issue. Such a fun lens and I haven’t taken it off since I got it

Fantastic performance, but expensive
I am really happy with how this lens performs! The sharpness, focus, and overall work output are fantastic. My only issue is the price tag—it is a bit on the high side. However, if you have the budget, the quality of the results makes it a solid investment.
