*EDIT* Both blocks weigh exactly the same. The manufacturer stated that the thinner block is the original size after compression. Blocks on the inside of a pallet often stay thinner than those toward the outside, but both contain the same amount of substrate. *ORIGINAL* I ordered 2 of these 72 quart blocks, and one bag clearly had more in it than the other. This is a pretty big bag, it is deft good value for the money. It is amazing for the balls pythons. I have been using it since the first day I got my snakes 1 year ago. I have bought this brand for a while. The breeding block is perfect because I own to ball pythons. They are both very picky. It is amazing for humidity. Plus it isn't dusty and has never caused problems with their heat pits. It is safe so any python. It absorbs extra water but isn't wet to the touch unless you pack it full of water. I only buy this brand for my bedding. I didn't really know what I was getting when I ordered this in place of the ReptiBark I generally order. It is a very different product, not bad different, just different. If you are expecting the ease of opening the bag and pouring it in that comes with Reptibark, you might want to keep looking. If you don't mind investing the time to rehydrate this product is great and a much better value. It took me a half hour to separate the very compact pack. Great value and our Russian tortoise can burrow more- 1 block for a 50 gallon tank. Clean- unlike the other reptile bark that puts red soot all over the area. Looks good!

When I compare these against other wood chips I've used for my Greek boxed tortoise in the past, the amount you get for the price with these is awesome. The tortoise seems okay with them so I will continue to use them.
