  • Awesome dirt
The bricks are awesome and really feel like throwable bricks when they arrive. You stick em in some water, and they’re really fun to massage and break apart. One brick filled one small cat litter box, so I’m glad I ordered a 5-pack. Photo is the dirt mixed with a little sphagnum moss. My skink already scratched around in it a bit, you can see some of his shed in the pic. 10/10 would buy again. Will update review if my ball python has any noteworthy feelings on this. Skink is still getting used to his new room and digging box; results pending. ... show more

  • Works great
This pack comes out cheaper and more convenient than buying a single brick at a normal store. You can plop the brick in a good amount of water and leave it sit and absorb, or you can have fun with it and break it apart and play with it as it is expanding. Messy playing with it but worth it. The ball python seems to greatly enjoy it also ... show more

  • Makes quite a lot.
It's easy to activate, and makes quite a lot of substrate. A single brick made enough substrate to cover ~2 inches of my 18"x18" enclosure. I haven't had very many issues with mold, although I do find that mold grows when the substrate makes contact with other organic materials like sticks. However, on plastic and ceramic, it doesn't. It does a good job at holding moisture. ... show more

  • Good value for price
For my 34 gallon pacman frog tank I like about 5 inches of sub state all around and 3 maybe 4 will get me there.

  • Don't underestimate the amount!
Wow, one brick expanded quite a bit! I actually used this for my veggie pots.

  • What I expected
I use this to keep my Box turtles 🐢 happy. They like to dig. I used two bricks for a 2x3 1/2 area. They have 6 to 8 inches of substrate to dig in. No smell. Very small mince,no long pieces to tangle around their legs. I did find a couple pieces of paper and plastic, so look through it before you introduce your animal back into the area ... show more

  • Dusty
The media could not be loaded. I am using this in my Mexican black king snake and a crested gecko. Desert and tropical, it is very absorbent. But in the desert tank it is extremely dusty. The snake makes tunnels in it when it is wet and mostly they hold up to his moving around once they dry out.

  • For Ball Python - 67g tank
Exactly what I needed 🙏 & better priced than the pet store! I mixed some retichips with the batch I made. 3 blocks filled my 67gallon tank for my baby python, I'll probably do 4 blocks next cleaning just to add a thicker bottom layer
