  • Great for my 1300 watt solar array!
Style: 100A
I purchased this controller to replace a cheaper Chinese controller that constantly ran a cooling fan which over time collected dust inside the housing and was making me nervous. I was skeptical of the purchase but when it arrived I saw right away the build quality was excellent and burly. I've been running it for 2 years now with a 400 amp hour lithium phosphate battery bank & 3000 watt inverter. I use it everyday to power my shop tools and run a medium sized air conditioner. Fairly easy to program but was confusing to dial down the settings to coincide with the BMS on my lithium batteries as over voltage alarms were beeping when the battery bank would get to 100%. However, its been running smooth after some trial and error dialing back of the voltage charge settings that none of the customer support channels could help with. The only negative thing I have to say about it is on a very hot day when outside temps are 110 + degrees the controller will get over heated and automatically dial back the amount of power coming from the panels to keep things safe. So, I've added a small cooling fan to blow up thru the cooling fins just for those heat waves which helps keep it at full charge power. All in all a good well made product after going thru 3 other brands over the past 10 years. Renogy has gotten much better over the years! ... show more

  • Must Buy !
Style: 100A
Hello 👋 Let me start buy saying I am always confused when it comes to solar. For 2 years I have been buying what I could afford to try to grow my solar system . Many products do not do what they claim. After watching many videos on line , I found an off grid channel that was upgrading his controller to a smaller Renogy controller. I asked for help , explained what I had , and he suggested this controller. I have 1000 watts of panels & 2-200Ah Hybrid Gel batteries. This controller will allow 1350 watts of panels @ 12v. The manual is confusing for me , but I did manage to find the setting to input the total AH of my batteries. This has an automatic BOOST function that that sucks the most power out of the lowest of light conditions. This controller will except 4ga wire to batteries. I am already saving money to buy another. ... show more

  • Warning fire danger
Style: 100A
This is the second renogy I purchased, the first one was a 60A and two week later I pursued the 100A, I installed the 100A first, everything seem to run nicely. At 94V and 3270W max input, several months later I notice it had started to melt around the solar panel pos- input connection. But was still working fine. now it stopped working. I removed it to replace it with the 60A , and found that it had also melted inside and was not longer making good contact. The 60A renogy spark and started burning up, as I was trying to connect an Anderson quick connect for the solar panels. At this time only the battery was connected nothing else. Renogy said it's not there problem, that I needed to go to where I purchased it. My 30 days has come and gone with Amazon. 2 out of 2 were junk ... show more

  • This 100A controller is not a toy!
Style: 100A
I've only had it up and running for a little over an hour now under intermittent sun and clouds, but so far so good. I bought a 100A controller from another brand and it died in less than an hour which surprised me because their smaller controllers work great. In a panic to get something quickly I decided to try the Renogy 100A because I knew of the brand and it seemed to fit the bill. (my system is a 4500w system with Voc around 132v) PROS: -VERY beefy unit. This thing has some mass! The heatsink on the back spans the entire unit and then some, and seems ready to handle the 100A that can be thrown at it. -Good power connection points. I use 2 awg wire with a few strands cut off to fit into the battery terminal connections and it works fine. The connectors are well insulated and the strain relief for the big battery wires you might use are well done IMO. They actually designed it for wire that can handle 100 amps. -Quiet operation. I wasn't pushing 80A into the battery for very long, but no cooling fans came on or anything. It just did it's thing. -Data display. Lots of real time data about what's happening in your system. CONS/NITPICKS: -The Lithium battery setting defaults to Lithium Ion, NOT LiFEPO4 batteries. If you have this style of lithium in a 16s configuration, you need to use the "USER" battery type and program things by hand. -The battery parameters regardless of battery type are based on a 12v system. If you have a 24, 36, or 48v system you need to take your voltage parameters and divide them by 2, 3, or 4, respectively, when you program the unit. -There is no way to disable the equalization option in the menu even if you are using lithium batteries (i have my own balancer). I did a workaround by putting the time in equalization to 0 and set it to do it every 60 days as a just in case. -The manual has some what I'll call "ESL translation" issues (e.g. telling you to hit the "ok" button when there are only arrow buttons- they meant the "right arrow" button for the "ok" button). Some of these translation issues can leave you scratching your head until you read it a few times to get into their mindset. Overall, the beefy construction, quiet operation, and the plethora of real time data make up for the cons/nitpicks of this unit. I'm glad I gave this a try and for initial quality/performance I am very impressed. As I use it more I'll continue to update with how it works. ... show more
