No doubt many others are experiencing a bit of a dilemma with their hair stylist or barber being closed until the COVID-19 situation resolves. In the meantime your hair could care less and continues to grow - so what can you do? You can wait it out until your barber or stylist decides to reopen to see you but that could be awhile depending on what state you live in. And you still risk the possibility of exposure. So what do you do? Why you cut your own hair of course, that's what you do! Admittedly, if you've never cut your hair before it can be intimidating. And everyone has different expectations and hair type so there's not exactly one way to go about it. However if you feel anxious as I did about tackleing the job yourself take a look at some Youtube videos to get an idea and develop a bit more confidence. Unless you have very unique requirements or expectations you probably can do a good enough job until you can get you your favorite barber or stylist. I decided to take the plunge, or clippers in hand, and try to do it myself. I was pleasantly surprised at how relatively easy it was to cut my own hair which is naturally curly. This Remington Hair and Beard shaver is a bit more expensive than many you'll see, though there are others that are double its price. However, this shaver comes with an assortment of comb attachments, a very solidly built hair brush, a barber's comb and a small container with oil for the cutter's blades and a handy pouch to keep all items in. The instructions that come with the shaver are, as you would expect, minimal, and with the exception of two points to be aware of, the instructions are almost useless. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you must never clean the blades with water since they can rust, and that after each trim session you clean the blades of loose hair as thoroughly as possible and re-lubricate the blades with about two drops of oil, then run the trimmer for couple of seconds which is supposed to spread the oil along the blades. And if you were expecting any instructions on how to cut your hair or beard, you won't find it in the instructions. The vendor I purchased from (gr8iphones) got my clippers to me days ahead of the expected date which was great. Overall, this is a very well designed basic clipper, makes no noise, and it comes with all the necessary items to begin cutting your hair or beard. It was an investment I wasn't sure of but it was worth the price and yes, I would recommend it to a friend. And, you just might decide to do it on your own going forward.

Most important to me is that it is very quiet. I have one set of clippers that I used once because they are way to loud. I use it regularly to trim my beard, and it works great. I just used them to cut my son's hair and was surprised how well it cut his thick wavy hair. I hadn't realized how dull my last clippers had gotten over 20 years of use. These cut the hair on the first pass. Outstanding! So quiet and sharp. Next, it is easy to clean. The blade head comes off (and back on) easily for cleaning, and the handset side is all sealed, so no hair gets jammed in screws or seams. Quiet, sharp, and easy to clean. Oh, and I really like that it is corded with no battery. My last clippers had a rechargable battery soldered inside. Those died three years ago, and I spent a few hours replacing them, and those newer batteries just died. Not worth it. Getting this new one is way better. Quiet, sharp, easy to clean, and corded. My only disappointment is that I liked the two oppositely tilted combs for trimming around the ears that my last ciippers had, and all of the combs are square for this one. I'll have to improve my skills a bit to go around the ears neatly. Still 5 stars.

I am 30 and I have owned more hair clippers/trimmers than I can count. Meanwhile I still have the same t shirts I wore in highschool (so it's not because I'm just a huge clutz/negligent/abusive/materialistic...etc.). There are various ways they will break but often I find that it happens when you take them apart to clean them, when you put them back together they never work the same. This is extra frustrating because, in theory, the more often you clean and maintenance them, the longer they should last. With these clippers you don't need to worry about that. The blades are a separate unit that easily pops off and on. I love it. I can clean them and oil them every single time and not lay awake at night wondering if today was the last day I got to use that. I am kinda a crabby bitch and don't usually go out of my way to give positive feedback but I really like these. I've had them for awhile now, maybe about a year? They're genuinely awesome. It's super sturdy and solid and heavy and just ~feels nice~. My standard unit of measurement is "if you threw this at someone's head, how much damage would it do?" And in the case of this clipper ... You're just gonna hope it doesn't hit you with the sharp end. Even the blades guards are super sturdy! Again, many clippers have flimsy guards that wear down and bend and eventually you can't use certain sizes (usually the shortest ones). And then, if you contact the manufacturer to try to replace them, oh oops, that shape is only for THAT exact clipper, and they don't make that model anymore. But you can buy a new one for $25. So. I have no reason to write this review except that I like the thing, I have some fondness for my fellow humans, and if someone is shopping for clippers I wish for them to enjoy the pleasures of this device.
