The Concorde Black cartridge system is particularly suitable for scratching, due to the special spherical stylus. With a very high tracking ability, the cartridge always stays in the record groove and does not jump, even during fast maneuvers. In addition, the stylus has a positive effect on vinyl wear.

Recently returned to playing vinyl LP’s. Discovering the world of OCD (obsessive compulsive) record ownership. Use this cartridge and a clip-on mini microscope on my iPhone camera to inspect/rehab scratched, skipping LP’s. Look, listen, push very lightly on cartridge with your finger or a modeler’s small paintbrush handle and the 5 gram needle can definitely help smooth out skipping, depending how deep the scratches are. Won’t work on deep scratches that make popping sounds each time the needle hits it. You can also try a toothpick in the record grooves, though it’s not an exact science. Very happy with this cart for my Technics SL1200 Mk 2. Mounting and balancing were super easy. I know there are more expensive versions of this but the sound quality is crisp and clear and make for a pleasurable listening experience, especially through headphones and dedicated headphone amp.

    • Good beginner needle for basic dvs and scratching

This is good if your just getting into turntables and scratching and don't want to drop $100+-$150 for a stylus/needle. Initially it was good but once I got into more serious scratches I noticed it wasn't tracking everything and missing alot. I don't know if there need to be broken in like other needles so maybe that's the issue??? If your more serious I would like recommend the ortofon scratch white needles or best of all worlds the VNL head but you need to build it yourself and mount so it's more work.
