I bought the Vizio sound bar to replace my Samsung H550. I didn’t need (or have the space for) a full receiver and 5.1/7.1 speaker system and after reading several reviews I felt the V51x would be a good match. I bought the product renewed from Amazon and set it up the same day it arrived. The speakers are small but sound clear and I haven’t had any issues with dialogue (a common problem with most budget sound bars). In fact Vizio even provides the ability to increase dialogue volume (the defaults were fine for me). There is a night mode that suppresses some of the lower frequencies and it is easy to adjust the subwoofer level, surround, and center levels. The subwoofer is pretty small (half the size of my Samsungs) however the bass is well pronounced and more than sufficient for small/bedroom use. One good thing about the setup is that the subwoofer has its own power cord and is used to drive the surrounds, since the subwoofer and center talk wirelessly, it’s easy to put the surrounds in a more ideal location without having to run wires from the front center to the back/sides where the surrounds normally would be. So far the wireless connectivity has worked without issues (my Samsung would occasionally have pairing issues), if I do run in to issues, I’ll update my review. I had bought the sound bar renewed and unfortunately the “renewed” quality cannot be trusted, my system came with an obviously faulty remote. The remote with this system has a LCD screen at the top, the screen is critical in controlling subwoofer, center, dialog volumes and other settings. Unfortunately my remotes LCD didn’t work (the LCD panel showed some sort of a dark leak, see picture of working and no working remote). Fortunately Vizios warranty support is superb and after describing the issue they sent me a new remote (I had a replacement within a week). My only minor grip is the need to keep the sound bar remote, I would have preferred if you could control the other settings (besides volume, Bluetooth and input selection) from the sound bar as well. I typically don’t use the sound bar remote as the TV remote allows me to control volume along with all other TV/channel controls. This means that there is a chance for the less frequently used sound bar remote to get lost, ideally a user should be able to make all changes without needing the remote. ... show more

After reading quite a few reviews that talk about how good this sounds for the price, I decided to buy it and I was not at all disappointed. Many reviewers mentioned their surprise at how good the subwoofer sounded for being so small, so I wasn't surprised to see that they were absolutely correct (I am definitely impressed with the sub). What I WAS surprised by, was how CLEAR the overall sound was. I was honestly not expecting such a great audio experience from VIZIO, let alone for an extremely great value. It was no problem to set up through my TV's HDMI ARC output for seamless, lag-free audio from my game consoles and other connected devices. I especially appreciate the vocal prompts during set up. It gets waaaaay louder than I expected after reading some of the reviews. The included remote also has a plethora of settings making it highly customizable to suit many different tastes. If you are placing the Left and Right "rear speakers" on the sides of the sound bar, I HIGHLY recommend changing the surround settings to "Surround Front" from the remote. Bluetooth worked perfectly. I'm so impressed with this system. I had come from a large expensive Atmos system a few years ago I had to sell for economic reasons a few years ago. I wasn't expecting too much just an ok system. I'm pleasantly surprised. The subwoofer at only 4in is actually impressively powerful and I only run it at 1/3 and it's enough. The remote with the display is literally amazing instead of having a display on the sound bar to see settings. It's low power too with system around 120watts altogether which is nice compared to my old one at around 1000. Music is pretty accurate although it does suffer over Bluetooth with volume I've noticed, but I usually play from my TV Spotify app which is much higher quality. Overall highly recommended best wireless 5.1 under $300 unless you step up to the Atmos Vizio 5.1.2s ... show more

    • I love this surround sound and bass speaker set!
I love the on remote led screen. You can adjust the sound without disturbing others that are watching while you obsess over the sound being just right for the movie, sport or TV. Yet, it isn't complicated, much. Plenty of opportunity to mess up the sound. If you are not an audiophile, just use the presets, like movie, sports etc. Cords are way to long for my small living room. But I guess to much is better than too little. Overall, for the price it is a solid 4 stars. I would have to spend 3-5 times as much for anything better. It arrived in a Vizio box and appeared brand new.
