Our 2nd electric winch was starting to go bad so instead of buying another we decided it was better to buy a manual winch. This one bolted into the existing holes and was easy to install. It has a smooth crank action and I like how the lock engages automatically when the crank is turned in the up position. The one part that didn't work for our situation was the length of the crank handle. It would not fit into the area we had to work with in the front of the camper. So instead, I welded a 13/16 socket on the end of a long crank handle and it worked perfectly. I’m sure someone else makes a premade handle for this use case but I was short on time and had a welder available. ... show more

Works as advertised, but I have to constantly tighten the two handle bolts. Might have to put threadlocker on it.

Seems of high quality works great exactly when I needed the handle doesn't have the clearance I needed I won't have to get something welded up to extend it to get past the edge of the trailer.

Do not use cheap boat winches for lifting jobs!!! Pay the money and get this winch. A brake winch is designed to lift and lower loads safely and this one is the best one on the market. Operates smoothly and the handle is removable to allow the use of a drill with the proper sized socket attached for faster operation.
