XL was the Right choice . with long underwear Top and 1 shirt , the XL coat was necessary for arm pit flexability . my guess , Size up . if you wear Medium shirts , get Large coat . if you wear Large shirts , get X-Large coat . XL , good flex for me at arm pits . coat seems of high quality material , warm . zipper overlap flaps , hood neck zipper overlap flap . elastic cloth cuff seals . fleece inner lining No arm pit zippers . *No waist draw string* ( cold air can blow up the waist ) Red coat , i have Black Velcro from amazon Velcro Brand , 15 yards at .75 inch wide . This jacket was a size up from what my son usually wears, which is what I intended to buy. The first time we got the jacket, the zipper broke off instantly, and it had to be replaced. It was a nice jacket, so I figured it was just a fluke. He received the second jacket, and within days of using it, the zipper on the replacement coat broke, just like the first one did.
