    • A warm, rain resistant coat that doesn't weigh you down

I ordered this coat because Pennsylvania winters can get pretty chilly, and I figured our weather would be a great test. I've worn the coat outside for a couple weeks, and it's kept me nice and warm. No complaints about the insulation at all. I like that there are a lot of large pockets as well, and they're easily accessible with gloved hands. Each side of the jacket has two lower pockets, one that you reach into naturally where you'd stick your hands to keep them warm, and the other accessible from a "straight up and down" arm position. Those are a little cumbersome to get into, but nothing major. They used a small piece of "hook and loop" fastener to hold the "hand warming" pockets closed, which means you need to force open the pockets each time you put your hands into them, and the plastic hooks of the fastener rub on the backs of your hands. I'd have designed that differently. But, on the plus side, those pockets do tend to stay closed pretty well. The plastic zipper on the jacket has large teeth, and that makes it easy to pull. In true parka style the zipper pulls right up to the top of the collar of the coat. I don't care for that as the collar covers part of my chin and mouth. I guess if it's really cold that could be a positive, but it's not the way I prefer to wear coats. As far as size, I ordered a Large per the sizing chart recommendations and that fits me well, so the size chart seems to be pretty accurate. I wore the coat out in a light rain, and it did a good job of repelling water, so that feature seems to work well. The coat is well made of quality material, and for all its warmth it's not extremely heavy or thick, so it doesn't bog the wearer down. As for value, I think that the "list price" is a bit high, and I feel that we're paying for the brand name more so than the actual quality of the coat, but that's a choice for the buyer to make. Overall, I'm satisfied with the garment and I think it's worth a solid 4 star rating. ... show more
