Even when the weather turns cold, it does not deter my son from trying to spend as much time as possible out door. This is a great jacket for the cold Northeast winters. It's very thick - you can feel how plush it is and that gives me comfort that it's keeping him warm. It's also a handsome looking coat - the blue and black is very boy-like and he really likes how it looks too. It's got good deep pockets so his hands can stay warm when waiting around, and they also zip so he can keep his toys inside safe while he runs around. My son is 7 years old but normally wears 8-9, so I got a size 8. It was a little big on him but not so much it can't be worn. I think it will be perfect with some under layers. It's extra thick, heavy weighted and warm. Perfect for really cold weather. My son said it was very comfortable. The wrists have a comfortable elastic that will keep the cold and snow out. I ordered the Reebok Boys' Winter Coat - Heavyweight Quilted Puffer Snow Parka - Weather Resistant Ski Jacket for Boys (8-20). I ordered this for my 9-year-old, and I got him the 10/12. It fits him well. This is well made, and it's a very high quality jacket. This might be too heavy to wear to school or certain events because it is incredibly thick and so much jacket. He tends to overheat, and when he plays at recess he doesn't like really thick coats. This would definitely not fit in his backpack, since there is so much coat here it needs its own backpack. However, the listing obviously shows this is a snow jacket and would be good for cold winter events. My son loved the tag it comes with as they give you a sample of the material that is used inside and he thought it was really cool. If you are going to be doing some cold weather events for several hours, this should keep them very warm and dry. ... show more
