It fits him well. This is well made, and it's a very high quality jacket. This might be too heavy to wear to school or certain events because it is incredibly thick and so much jacket. He tends to overheat, and when he plays at recess he doesn't like really thick coats. This would definitely not fit in his backpack, since there is so much coat here it needs its own backpack. However, the listing obviously shows this is a snow jacket and would be good for cold winter events. My son loved the tag it comes with as they give you a sample of the material that is used inside and he thought it was really cool. If you are going to be doing some cold weather events for several hours, this should keep them very warm and dry. ... show more

I got this coat for my 11 year old son. He is average size. We live in upstate NY. The coat fit perfectly, though he wishes it was just a little bit longer (he likes long coats). Personally I think it looks the right length. The coat is a lot heavier than I expected and is super warm. No hoodie or sweater needed under this one. I got this coat for my son to wear next year and I love it. It’s real thick and heavy. My son will be 6 next year and I got a size 8. It does look pretty big on him now but we’ll see if he grows into it. So no need to size up if your child is average size.

This coat will be perfect for those cold winter months in the Midwest. It seems like it is insulated very well and doesn’t seem to be too puffy. There is a nice fleece lining and the colors are very rich. It seems to fit as expected.
