This shade was a good fit for my house because it combines practicality with a modern design. While it does a good job of meeting most of my requirements for a window treatment, there are a few issues that prohibit me from giving it five stars. The absence of a cord is the standout feature of this lamp shade. In addition to contributing to a more streamlined aesthetic, the elimination of cords also increases safety, which is especially important for households with young children and pets. Notable is the simplicity of operation; a little lift or pull is all that's needed to set the desired shade height, allowing for a smooth change between natural light and privacy. The blackout fabric performs as advertised, eliminating unwanted light to create an ideal setting for rest or contemplation. When the sun was shining in the morning and I wanted to relax in my room, this was a great addition. Unexpectedly, the shade's capacity to muffle outside noise greatly improved the quality of life inside. In order to accommodate a wide range of window shapes and sizes, the "Trim-at-Home" function has been included. The time and effort saved by not having to hire a professional to cut and fit the shade was well worth it. Trimming was a breeze thanks to the detailed directions, and the outcome was a customized and tidy appearance. I would give this product five stars if it weren't for a few issues. While "no tools" installation was promised, considerable work was required to ensure the shade was installed securely. The included adhesive strips did a good job of keeping the shade in place, but I found that more was needed to make sure it fit securely, especially on bigger windows. The blackout function was very effective, however there was some light seepage around the shade's edges. This became more noticeable while trying out various shade heights. It didn't severely impair the shade's performance, but its blackout qualities were compromised. Because of its neutral color and simple silhouette, the white cloth shade can be used in a variety of settings. The cellular design gives the shade a touch of subtle texture without detracting from its otherwise sleek and modern look. Those in need of discretion and light regulation will find the Redi Shade No Tools Easy Lift Trim-at-Home Cordless Cellular Blackout Fabric Shade an excellent option. It's a great addition to any home because it's cordless, has blackout material, and can be made to fit any window. Installation can be tricky, and some light may still get through, but these issues are outweighed by the shade's usefulness and convenience. I love the shade now that it's up. I got the blackout one for my master bathroom glass block window. The airbnb neighbors sometimes leave the back yards lights on over night and the window is near my bed. It is super helpful as I am sensitive to lights at night. I live in AZ and the sun also shines in this window during the summer days so I've been leaving it down to keep it cooler inside. It was easy to put up however the adhesive didn't stay up for more than a couple of hours. I first bought some gorilla tape and that was mostly effective. There was one spot where the drywall wasn't even it wouldn't seal. I put some liquid nails and braced it for a day. It's almost a perfect fit with a 1/4 gap on each side. I didn't have to trim it. It's been up for 4 months now and I love it. Wished I would have found something like this sooner to block out the lights and night and the scorching sun during the day. ... show more

I ordered no less than 7 different blinds trying to find what worked best. I also wanted white so that it looked ok from outside the front of our house but needed them to also be full black out. Like other reviewers have already warned you about, cutting them to size is a workout. I used an older, rarely used serrated kitchen knife and sawed at an angle. The first few times I thought I might die. I might have lost consciousness a time or two and then kept sawing as I came to. As I got more used to the incredible amount of force necessary to saw through these mothers it went much more quickly. Still, when I got through it I was out of breath and bit faint. Next, the sticky strip at the top isn’t going to cut it. Give up the dream and just accept it out of the box. In fact, don’t buy these without a plan that doesn’t include using its own adhesive strip. I tried a lot of things including a very detailed plan of attaching super strong magnets to the window sill and the shade. Wasn’t that a great idea? No. It. Wasn’t. In theory it was perfect. In execution it was too much work. Even liquid nails wouldn’t stick the magnet to the shade. So, what’s a girl to do? I got out a hammer and nails and beat that sucker into submission. The very top plastic like top can be folded up just enough to get a nail or screw underneath. Then just pound it into the window sill. I installed these blinds behind my plantation blinds so it worked well. Nothing messy to see here folks. It’s quite dark. Very dark, actually. Yes there is a little bleed through on the edges because it’s difficult to get the size exactly right. But it totally blocks at least 95% of the street light outside of our window and the inexplicable bright as the sun red light bulb our neighbors installed on their upper deck that beams right into our bedroom. Amsterdam much? With these blinds installed, it’s so dark that you have to make sure the floor is picked up because if you get up in the night you won’t be able to see and a rogue sock can take you out. I’ll let you wonder how I know that. 😳 If you do want light to come in they are pretty easy to push up. No cords. We just reach behind our plantation blinds and push as high as we want and they hold in place. All in all these are a success and we would buy again. Just remember to loosen up, stretch and shoot a power drink before you start sawing and have your hammer and nails ready. ... show more
