  • Amazing boots - worthy of your money (*edit 6mo* these are priceless)
definitely buy half a size to a full size lower than your current shoe size. the quality is unlike any other shoe/boot ive ever seen, but i come from a family that buys cheap shoes to "save money" I believe spending more for quality that will outlast cheap shoes by many years will be much cheaper. i got mine on sale for $185 so all around an amazing deal for something i hope will last many many years with proper care and maintenance. they are a bit stiff but from my research it takes a bit of time to break in and have the leather soles mold to your feet, so ill update my review after awhile of wearing them. I work at target so the main usage is logistics/retail working. the truck is very hard on clothing but not as hard as a job that these type of boots were made for. (Like construction or similar job) it feels good to be working and making my own money to make the decision to purchase quality items. i always do a lot of research before spending a large amount of money on something, as anyone should do. Update: few weeks later the shoes are comfortable with thick socks, I recommend the thickest red wing socks, makes a huge difference in comfort. Besides some scuffs the shoes are still amazing. I've conditioned the leather and they look amazing. Ill add a picture of them after wearing for a few weeks. Update: about 6 months later. I couldn't br happier with how they hold together even with how they get beat up every single day. Ill add a picture, and just remember this is after 6 months of a lot of abuse.. ... show more

  • Great boot, USA made, genuine materials.. Get what you pay for
Size: 9.5 Color: Copper Rough & Tough
As many have mentioned before me, these run big. I generally wear 10D in all athletic shoes, but if you have a Red Wing store close to you, or have ordered these before.. go to the store first! Get measured for this boot. I ended up buying a 9.5D, still think they may be a smidge too big. First, I thought these shoes were too big when I received them. I decided to wear inside my house for a few hours first before deciding to keep or return for a smaller size. Something that is very important to note... heel slip in this, any many other quality boots, is normal and expected! A break-in period is necessary for these boots. So, if the boots are completely flexing or molding to your feet, the only give are is going to be the heel. I've found a good practice is to lace them rather tight, not uncomfortable, just tight. This will minimize the necessary heel slip. Next, you'll find the more you wear these, the more you love them. They start to conform to your feel. They are handcrafted and constructed in the good Ol' USA!!! This is my first pair of Red Wings boots and I am sold. I bought these not for work, but for nice occasions when the wife and I go out. I do wear them often for every day use, but not for work. They are incredibly well built so would not hesitate to purchase if needing a good work boot. My line of work does not require a workboot however. Would I buy again.. yes! Will I need to buy any time soon, no I don't believe so. These are so well put together I could easily see wearing them for a couple years. Do recommend putting a mink oil, balm, or RW leather treatment on the boot. Will speed break in period as well as protect the boots. Great boots!!! ... show more

  • Make sure you check the date on the label inside the tongue
Size: 11 Color: Briar Oil Slick
The intent of my review is to make buyers aware of what to look for if and when you order these Red Wing Heritage boots from Amazon. I'm normally a size 12 or 12.5 in normal shoes and also have a removable orthotic footbed that in place in all my shoes due to my high arches. I ordered 2 pairs of Red Wing Heritage Moc 6" boots in Briar Oil Slick from Amazon in size 11.5 and 11. I recently purchased a pair of the Red Wing Heritage chukkas boots in briar oil slick and the 11.5 fit me perfectly. I liked the chukkas so much I ordered the 6" boots. When I purchased the chukkas, the person at the Red Wing Store showed me on the tag on the inside of the tongue of the boot that my chukkas were made on "10/15" - essentially since I purchased the chukkas in December, they were made 2 months prior. The 6" moc boots in size 11.5 arrived first from Amazon and when I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was how the boots looked "broken in" and the leather was faded, dried out, and old. The first thing I did was look at the label on the tongue and noticed the date was 2011 - these boots were almost 5 years old! Yet Amazon was selling them as "new." I tried the boots on, just to get a gauge on size and found the 11.5s to be too big. So I returned them. However, if they had fit, I would have certainly complained to Amazon for trying to sell me a new pair of expensive Red Wing boots that were obviously old and not up to any sort of Red Wing standards. Buyers - be aware of this issue and make sure you check the date the boot was made on the tag inside the tongue - the date is on the lower, right part of the boot below the model number. It's one thing if the boots are a few years old and still look brand new, but the boots Amazon sent me were definitely sub-par. 2 days later the size 11 6" moc boots arrived and I wasn't sure what to expect. I opened the box and immediately inspected the boots for quality and the date they were made. Fortunately, the date was "10/15" so I was sure these were recently made. While the boots looked as if someone had tried them on before, I could tell the size 11 was perfect for me and the boot fit great. The color of the briar oil slick along with the crepe sole looks amazing. I've been wearing them around the house for about a week now and I hate having to take them off. Every time I wear them they get more and more comfortable. I think of them as more comfortable than my favorite pair of running shoes, but the Red Wings provide far more support. I am very happy with the 6" moc boot and actually find them easier to break in than my chukkas. Once you decide on a color(s), and once you find your fit, I think just like my you will be sold on Red Wing Heritage boots. I am using these for wearing in the office, out in the field (construction), and for style around town. ... show more

  • Heritage work boot
Size: 10 Color: Copper Rough & Tough
Amazing craftsmanship from a great American boot maker. If you want “tennis shoe comfort” right out of the box, look elsewhere. But if you want an amazing, heritage built work boot that lasts a lifetime and will just be breaking in when those “tennis shoe work boots” are ready for the dumpster…this is your boot. I sized down 1/2 size from my running shoes for a perfect fit. ... show more
