Overall, this is a great value for what you are getting. I paid around $50 for the Mega Craft Kit with 36 skeins in assorted colors. I am currently learning how to crochet, so this will come in handy as I try my hand at amigurumi. When the kit arrived, I was initially surprised by the size of skeins in the package. I was expecting sizes similar to ones I have purchased individually, or as a bundle of 3 in a single color. In full honesty, I didnt do a lot of research in reading the description of the product before hand, and would have known the skeins would be smaller if I had. That being said, I was disappointed at first, but realized rather quickly that it will work perfect for my needs without excess yarn, and can always pick up larger skeins of ones I know I will use more often and need more of. The skeins are standard for the Red Heart brand and feel the same as the larger ones, which makes sure that projects made from this kit will be consistent where each brand can be different from each other as far as thickness and texture. This will also work well for the the Red Heart skeins that I already have. I love that this comes in a zippered case for storage as well as keeping it clean and dust free. Will definitely purchase again at a later date when I need to restock and want an assortment of colors. If you are starting out and learning knitting or crocheting, I definitely recommend this kit because it gives you an array of colors all in one bundle for less than you would pay for large skeins of all 36 colors individually. (I estimated around $150-$250 in total ranging from $5-$7 per large skein of each color at my local craft store, but stores prices may vary.) Very nice yarn from red heart. The kit lets me sample all the colors. One ball makes 8 traditional granny squares, I made in 3 rounds and I used a 5 MM hook. The one ball had a little amount of yarn left over but definitely a lot to make a couple blankets!!

My Mom has the beginning of dementia but she still loves to knit. She sits there all day knitting lap-sized blankets. She has used up almost all the scrap yarn we have (I crochet and knit, too). So these mini skeins were perfect because she gets bored using one color. Anybody need a lapghan? Our house is full...lol ... show more

I do know how to read. I saw the size of the yarn. I just didnt expect them to be as tiny as they were. There is nothing wrong with the product, but these are only big enough for those who make dolls. Not big enough to make blankets or anything like that.
