I'm working on a very big project. I had previously bought what I thought was all the yarn in this color way I needed to complete it from Walmart and Joann's. I realized I needed some more but Red Heart no longer sells Reef in the stores so I was happy to see I could still get it here on Amazon. In the pictures it looked exactly the same as the yarn I had so I ordered the 3 pack. What I received was called Reef but the colors are darker than the ones I'd gotten before. In my picture the yarn I'd bought from the stores is on the right and the yarn I got from Amazon is on the left. This poses a bit of a problem because the new yarn doesn't match up and will make my project look weird. The texture is different as well. Honestly, the different texture is an improvement as it is quite a bit softer, but, again, it doesn't match with the rest of the project. All in all, the yarn itself is very nice. It's soft and has a bit more stretch to it. But I'm very disappointed that the colors are not what was pictured and now I'm at a loss of what to do about finishing this project that has taken me a long time to do. ... show more

No, it’s not soft. But there are plenty of projects that require a sturdy yarn. (Think witches’ hats). If needed, you can always wash your finished creation to soften it. This yarn is bright, and stripes nicely. It was a bonus to me that I received 3 in the same dye lot. I wasn’t necessarily expecting that. The reasons to order on Amazon? Availability. Price. Most important to me, is that I can return it if the manufacturer is trying to off load a bunch of yarn that wasn’t dyed well. I have previously ordered this brand through a fabric/craft store, only to understand that it was a good price because the colors were not as vibrant as they normally are. There is a joke amongst knitters that only roaches and Red Heart Super Saver will survive the apocalypse. No matter how old my Super Saver yarn project is, it still looks the exact same way the day it came off the needles. I am the weirdo that makes garments out of this stuff. Why? Because they last, they don’t stretch out, minimum to zero pilling and they can take an absolute beating in industrial washers and dryers. This yarn is so easy to work with. It is super soft but sturdy. I love the way it is easy to locate the beginning of the string when starting a project. I like to pull from the middle and I found the starting point of the yarn in a matter of a second. I've already filled my cart with multiple colors. The price is not bad at all.
