Unlike a lot of people with vinyl collections (our numbers about 1000 lps) we have turntables. I think it is a Kenwood in the living room, an old Technics in my studio and an old old Akai mini stereo in our extra room, and our kids have their own. That said we did not *need* a turntable. I was, however, intrigued by the promise of digital conversion on the fly. That said, I almost forgot the usb turntable, which I think is a Technics also, BUT it requires external software and a lot of time and patience to convert analog to digital files. I have purchased suitcase turntables before, usually at school fund raising carnivals. My expectations were not very high, at all. This exceeded them nicely. Not only did it not chew up our albums, but (after I spent hours looking for some wired speakers) it has speakers, and plays well. The (very light) tone arm tracks well. The arm lift works. The auto return works, and best of all, the digital conversion works. This could save us thousands of dollars, or could have if we had not already purchased CDs of many of the albums we have. But, not everything made it from vinyl to CD, or digital, and we have quite a few albums which have not, and also some we have not yet bought for the second or third time. I think it could still save us a lot of money, and give us ready access to a lot of music which is otherwise unobtainable, and just be fun to have around. (My husband will continue to use the Kenwood, no doubt ;) In short, this is the best suitcase turntable I have seen. It does digital conversions on the fly with the push of a button. It is easy to use, and even (for some weird reason) has a line in as well as a line out. No, it does not sound like a Thorens, or a Kenwood. It does not cost as much either. ... show more

I'm in my 60s and when I was a kid, my dad had one of those hi-fi units in a Danish Modern wood piece of furniture that had shelves above the player to hold the records. As a child I can remember sitting on the floor in front of that hi-fi and listening to Beethoven, to Patsy Cline, and a few years later when my brother and sister bought records, Elvis and the Beach Boys. I learned to love horror by listening to Peter and the Wolf over and over again - the sound of the wolf was so scary! So, for listening to a few of the vinyl from my past, I just had to pull out a couple of boxes from the attic and get this player - the hi-fi from my childhood was sold long, long ago - and my first record was of Stravinsky. It just took me back! This is a wonderful, not-too-expensive record player and it's nice that I can also record these records on a jump drive so I don't always have to get the old records out - they are old! ... show more

I really love the quality of this turntable it works great for my son who has a whole collection of vinyls that were handed down to him from his grandfather. He is heavily into music and was very excited to have this because he wants to take it with him wherever he goes. The needle is a diamond style needle which is very sensitive and plays the records beautifully. The speakers are decent but you can set something up to your liking. He loves the USB record feature as he does this to mix old time songs with some of his own music. (he's a music major). This is a fantastic vinyl record player the only thing it doesn't have is bluetooth but so far he said he's not missing that feature, but keep that in mind if it's something you're looking for Very happy with it, would make a great gift for anyone. ... show more

This is a cute record player. I like that it is portable. When it is closed, it looks like a retro suitcase. It is easy to use, and it has good sound quality. I did as one reviewer advised, and played older vinyl until the needle had been broken in. It does make a difference (no skipping and you can play songs that have more bass). It is great that I can insert a thumb drive. I can hook up my headphones and listen to my music to my hearts content (my mother does not like my classical tunes). I can also have it play music and audiobooks. I can close it up when I am done and tuck it away. The record player is well-made, and it has good sound quality. I got this record player for my ex so she could play the records she had collected over the years. Unfortunately all the disks she had were far too small for it. She told me she liked the design, and that it would probably work fine if she had small disks. Unfortunately I don’t know if she ever was able to get those smaller discs, and it seems highly unlikely to me that she did, given how she was tight on money. I think if you are looking for a record player that plays standard sized records, your money is better spent elsewhere. ... show more

This retro style record player works great. Easy to use and the sound is clear and crisp. The style is cute, it's a light purple and is great for a teen girl's room. Fully portable. Speakers built in. You can play through a USB cord. One cool thing is that you can transfer your vinyl records to mp3 through it. You can also connect it to blue tooth and play music from your phone through the speakers. It accommodates all size records, 45, 33, and 78. The whole reason for listening to vinyl is to get that full analog sound. This player is good to convert your old records to mp3 format but then that is digital, not analog music. For this machine the music is captured analog through the needle but then is immediately digitized. Even when listening through the internal speakers the result is digital and then not very good. Do not go out and buy records to listen to using this machine. You are better off with CD or mp3 download in that case. ... show more

This is a super cool record player. Just be mindful that you need a lot of flat space to adequately display both the record player and the two speakers. You probably need at least 30 inches of width for this. I've noticed that sometimes the turntable part isn't even and the record doesn't play right / skips. The solution is easy and the plastic circle used for 45 records can slide under the record player arm to stabilize. ... show more
