  • one of the best amps ive used for door speakers
this amp works very well. it stays cool and the power output is amazing it you bridge it to 2 channels. it had very nice sound quality and stereo imaging was great. very easy to handle power requirement too

  • Recoil got my attention and won my respect.
This is a powerful amp and the sound quality is outstanding. You can't go wrong with this amp. Class d amps are the way to go they run cool and are energy efficient. Have a small foot print, with a very good fit and finish and like I said sound really good. This recoil embodies all the qualities you look for in an amp. The di550.4 is an 80 watts × 4 amp. 95% SNR. But in the recoil DI series line up you can get far more power so choose your need. For me 80 x 4 was more than enough. Now I have a separate powered subwoofer and I'm using a two farad capacitor to drive both amplifiers to get the most out of them. I used this to replace my crunch audio pzx900.4 a/b class amp. Which gave me good service for more than 12 years and I'm not sure altogether that it's still not working I just decided to replace it. Next I will replace the capacitor which is also over 12 years old I won't need to go larger I'll stay with the two farad and just replace the one that is still working but it's time to replace it. With me my stereo is like my friend and if I were to sell my car I would remove my stereo and put the factory one back in, I would take my friend with me to my next car. My head unit is a dual din Kenwood Excelon. I love the kenwoods and I use them exclusively. Go with the excelons and you got the best they have. This amp represents a great value at its price point, can be found for under $90.00 but beyond that it's a best buy in my book. Look for the utube reviews. Recoil for serious sound. ... show more

  • An Audio Snob's very biased opinion - pretty good except...
I picked this amp over many others in the field for the following reasons: 1) Size - I had a very specific install location and this is one of the few options that would physically fit. 2) Signal to Noise (SN) Ratio - This device claims to have a 95db SN ratio (for reference, CD quality is about 104db SN and anything less is going to be less than CD quality, but remember you are in a CAR so anything over 100 SN is hard to tell while driving). 3) Price and delivery - I preferred another amp but it is backordered so decided to give this one a try. The install went well and the unit worked just fine out of the box. I'm glad that after an hour of heavy burn-in testing, it was warm and not hot to touch! I had no trouble pushing 4 component sets of Alpine S2s hard. I dare say the power is as-advertised from a small class D! The combo RCA inputs for high/low power are bizarre. If you wanted to use this for high power, you would have to sacrifice some RCA cables and rig up the inputs to make this work which I'm glad I didn't have to do. I was using low power signal level inputs, but if I wasn't, that would be a big show stopper and I'd throw it down to 2 stars and suggest an amp that has wiring for hi level inputs ready to go. 95db SN ratio it isn't though. There is present hiss from the speakers with no source which is a sure sign of overrated SN and THD. I have a dead-quiet EV that I'm using it in. But again, at the price point, I'm reasonably pleased with the purchase and think it is still a good value. For the SN deficiency and the hi input strangeness, I'm going to subtract a star. I would recommend and buy it again for any non-luxury vehicle that isn't dead-quiet inside. UPDATE - The literature that came with the amp says it is 85db SN. The value in the posting is INCORRECT. At least my ears weren't deceiving me. ... show more

  • IMPRESSED!
Powering two 6x9 and two 5” mid/subs in a Jeep TJ.. use a 4g wire! Thing bumps, driving with the top down at 50mph, sounds good. Very happy w my purchase. Initially I had a thinner power wire and ground, too close to the RCA cables, bad whine in the speakers. Separated the power from the RCA routing to this amp and it’s fine! Good deal. Only had a couple weeks, I’ll update if it doesn’t last long this summer. ... show more

  • Don't waist your time...
The fact that the first one I received was D.O.A. I mean nothing worked, no lights or anything. So I proceed to do all the test to verify it wasn't some mixed up something or another. Then called Amazon and bam another one was at my door the next day! No big deal. Right? The next day i installed the 2nd one and at first I thought it was all good. Got it all hooked up and set all my gains with a osilascope so i knew everything was good. That's when I noticed that the front right channel wasn't putting out the same power as the front left channel. So I checked the rear channel and the rear left was only putting out half the power as the rear right. So I shut it down and double check everything was good and all my wiring checked out. Then I turn it back on and the alarm light was lit and wouldn't turn off. I tried everything ( new fuses unhooking everything but +/-/remote turn on, still red alarm. So I called Amazon again and returned it. What are the chances that I got 2 duds in a row. I mean come on. Manufacturing and Q.C. really must be having a bad day or is just non existent. There is a reason why it's so cheap. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more on a name brand amp or keep trying the budget option and kicking yourself in the butt for doing so later... ... show more
