Description

America’s best-selling truck bed cover just got even better.Introducing the BAKFlip MX4 Gen 3—the latest evolution of RealTruck’s most popular tonneau cover. Now better than ever, the BAK has redesigned the for improved strength, security, and all-weather performance. The Gen 3 MX4 features alloy-based construction, including heavy-duty aluminum side rails and top panels, reinforced with high-density polymer cores. This updated design delivers a 22 percent increase in strength over the previous generation, making it even more capable of handling daily use, heavy loads, and harsh environments. Security has also been upgraded. BAK’s patented auto-latching system secures the cover automatically when closed. Newly engineered lock components provide added resistance to tampering and forced entry, allowing you to transport your gear with confidence. In rough weather, the Gen 3 MX4 holds strong. Revised EPDM perimeter seals and tight-fit clamps offer the best seal yet, helping prevent water intrusion along the bed rails. A longer dual-action tailgate seal weatherproofs the tailgate while preserving full functionality, whether the cover is open or closed. While the MX4 is built tough, it doesn’t compromise on looks. The flush-mount design gives it a sleek, low-profile appearance, while a textured matte-black finish across all surfaces delivers a clean, subtle aesthetic. Installation is easier than ever with a new click-in rail system that cuts install time by up to 12 percent. Day-to-day use is just as simple—drop the tailgate, unlatch, and fold the cover forward. For complete bed access, fold the cover against the cab without blocking your third brake light. The BAKFlip MX4 Gen 3 is proudly assembled in Missouri using globally sourced materials and backed by a 5-year warranty.

Well built, tight fitting and low profile
Style: MX4: America's Top Seller Size: 5' 10" Standard Bed Configuration: 2019 - 2022 New Body Style
Impressed with the design on this. Its low profile, fairly easy to install. Make the truck look good. I gave it 4 out of 5 on installation due to i needed another body to help hold a corner down to have it sit right for bolt down. Even that, wasnt difficult at all. RTFM and golden. I tested it thru many a carwash (Crew Carwash) which has high pressure. Hardly any water gets in. Little by the tailgate. We'll see how it holds to sun damage/coloration and the weather. I personally think it will do well! Foldup: This is a must if you use the bed for hauling things. This top folds ups nice and easy. Simple pull down on the cable and flip it over! The mfg states it can hold up some weight. I'm not going to try it unless I have to. I trust what they say. Its a solid top. If you are thinking on this one, dont hesitate! ... show more

Smooth install and quality product for my 2023 Silverado
Style: MX4: America's Top Seller Size: 5' 10" Standard Bed Configuration: 2019 - 2022 New Body Style
First, I spent a fair amount of time doing research for a decent tonneau cover. When I purchased my truck, I knew I needed a tonneau cover. I initially was leaning toward a retractable-style cover for a couple of reasons. One - I wanted something that would make my bed both secure and dry. Two - I wanted something that would be out of the way when I needed the full bed and was electric actuated. Third - I was fairly certain I wanted something constructed of metal rather than plastic or vinyl. There was one issue with electric retractable tops is they are VERY expensive! So, eventually I had arrived at the conclusion I just didn't want to spend the money for a retractable top, but wanted the sturdiness of a metal retractable top. BakFlip hits 2 of my 3 asks for a tonneau cover - AND at a fraction of the cost! So, this is MY comparison contrast between retractable vs folding tonneau covers. Next, when it arrived, it was packed very securely. I was a bit worried after I had ordered because I had read some reviews that indicated their cover was damaged during shipping. The box was large and bulky, but wasn't unmanageable. My 17 year old daughter actually got it into the house just fine on her own. Installation. My advice on installation is to unwrap the cover and brackets and separate the hardware into piles (nuts, washers, lock washers). The other reviews on here are spot-on! If you are like me and you're a garage 'tinkerer' with cars and trucks and know your way around a toolbox, you will have no problem with the install. It took me about an hour. Just be sure, to pay attention to the alignment and insure the brackets are grabbing your bed rails squarely. Definitely worth going back around to give the bolts a final 'snug' when you're done. Performance. I saw mixed reviews on here that were indicative of the cover leaking. The cover (so far) has kept the gear in my bed dry during the handful of rainstorms we've had since the install. As for the dust? Here's the thing. When you put one of these covers on, you are sealing around the top of your bed. The penetrations and voids UNDER that cover will allow dust (and in most cases water). How is it the tonneau cover's fault? Get creative if you want your bed to be air-tight. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. In the end I am happy that I decided to save about $1600 because, as it turns out, I don't think having a remote and being able to click a button to retract the cover is worth an extra $1600. I hope this review helps if you are on the fence like I was... ... show more

Bakflip mx4 sets the standard
Style: MX4: America's Top Seller Size: 5' 10" Standard Bed Configuration: 2019 - 2022 New Body Style
Bakflip sets the standard. Easy to install. Nice unit. I wouldn’t say it creates a water proof space especially with a gmc multipro tailgate. But the bed remains mostly dry. I do think they are overpriced but it is what it is. The first one a got a few years ago was about $850 and I think that’s a fair price. Still it’s a very nice unit and easy to open and store. ... show more

Bakflip bed cover installed
Style: MX4: America's Top Seller Size: 5' 10" Standard Bed Configuration: 2019 - 2022 New Body Style
The cover is pretty easy to install. No drilling or anything which makes it easy. Seems pretty durable so far. The only thing I’m not happy about is the cheap weather stripping that has terrible adhesive. One trip on the freeway and it was pulled out from under the cover.

Remove the top if you need to drive any distance at higher speeds!
Style: MX4: America's Top Seller Size: 5' 10" Standard Bed Configuration: 2019 - 2022 New Body Style
I would suggest removing the top should you need to drive a long distance with the cover folded against the cab rear window. I needed to drive from Tucson to Phoenix with the top folded all the way against the rear cab window with the bed fully loaded. The speed limit on the interstate is 75 miles per hour which I didn’t exceed. I noticed after about 30 miles on the interstate, that the 3 piece top was not against the window and was moving back and forth. I pulled over at the first exit I came to and found not only did the struts fail to hold the top in place against the window but the areas that have the two bolts that hold the top in place on the rails, had been creased in due to the pressure of the wind against the top. The passenger side is the worse with both sides slightly bent in as depicted in the photos. I never saw any warnings to remove the top should you have to exceed a certain speed. These areas are not dented due to over tightening the bolts. It looked perfect when I had completed the installation. Also, the two struts that are supposed to hold the top against the window were as tight as I could tighten them and they both slid down from the pressure of the wind. This could have been corrected by the manufacturer by having these two holes through the top filled with appropriate size washers instead of styrofoam insulation or should have had a warning to remove the top if you need to exceed a certain speed. I worked with a small tool to take some of the creases out so they aren’t as bad in the pictures but you can still see the creases If it hadn’t been for this, I would give it 5 stars. ... show more

Minor adjustments required during installation.
Style: MX4: America's Top Seller Size: 5' 10" Carbon Pro Bed Configuration: 2019 - 2022 New Body Style
The product required a few adjustments for install on my 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. The factory drilled holes on the inside of the bed rail cap are are actually 5/16" and round. Thus I had to improvise and position the supplied receiving clip/nut fully behind the lip of the bed rail to accommodate the bolt through the new bed cover rail and the bed rail. The bed rail hole closest to the cab is a 1/2" square so the supplied receiving clip/nut was a breeze to install as it clipped over the lip as expected. One issue to be aware of is the bed rail guides on the new cover do not match the factory drilled hole nearest the tailgate as there's about a 4" difference. Was not a major issue as I simply drilled a 3/8" hole through the side rail of the new bed cover to match the position of the factory drilled hole in the bed rail lip. Finally, the factory sprayed-in bed liner may have contributed to the new cover being about 1/4" off when the new cover was dropped over the bolts and pushed toward the cab. Expected the new cover guides and bolts to be closed but within a 1/4" will be fine. Otherwise, I'm a happy camper! The new bed cover is solid and well constructed. ... show more

Hopefully the new rails solve the problem.
Style: MX4: America's Top Seller Size: 5' 10" Standard Bed Configuration: 2019 - 2022 New Body Style
This product is really simple to put on. Looks great and it would be great if it didn’t leak. send first rain the rails leaked. See video. Sent a video to backflip. She immediately says oh will ship you out new rails cause those are defective. She said they would ship owner before May 1 and it is May 5 and they still haven’t shipped. Had to call and the day I called it was miraculous that a shipping label was generated, but they still haven’t shipped. ... show more

Great quality cover, seals very well, factory installation video is not 100% accurate
Style: MX4: America's Top Seller Size: 5' 10" Standard Bed Configuration: 2019 - 2022 New Body Style
I bought mine from Amazon and it had been opened previously and someone took many of the parts from the hardware kit, and no instructions. RealTruck sent me a replacement hardware kit, which had a few things I did not need, and no instructions. The RealTruck video for installing in a late model GMC or Chevy was quite helpful, but it makes a point of snapping the clamps into the side rails for assembly, that just can't be done with the side rails I received, I wasted some time trying. It took me over 2 hours to install thanks to the lack of instructions. I did it carefully and spent a lot of time on the final alignment. It fits and operates well, looks great, and I drove it in a howling rainstorm yesterday for about 20 minutes. No visible water inside the bed. So, a great product for my 2026 Silverado 1500. ... show more
