If you are reading basic barcodes, this is fine. However, this fails with non-printable characters, small barcodes with a lot of data, ANSI MH10.8.2 encoded barcodes, and barcodes on Digikey product bags. Some barcodes have non-printable characters embedded in them. E.g. the "group separator" and "record separator" characters. There's no keyboard key combination that corresponds to these characters, but they are necessary for properly reading some barcodes. I asked customer service, and this reader does not support those characters or any way to escape them to make a printable representation. This means that this reader won't properly scan ANSI MH10.8.2 barcodes including the Data Matrix codes on Digikey bags (which was why I bought this reader). And even if it could handle non-printable characters, it tends to have a lot of errors when reading small Data Matrix codes with a lot of data in them. I tried it right now by reading the same barcode four times in a row and got four different results. I've also found it to be inconsistent with some QR codes. ... show more

Scanner was great when we had it (a little slow scanning in a timely manner), but after less than a year, it has completely stopped working and we don't know how to get it replaced.

This scanner works great! So far, I have used it to scan DVD bar codes (over 500), ISBN numbers (so far, just under 100) and some QR codes, but it has been 100% flawless. It also scans really fast (under 1 second). It can store scanned codes locally (up to 10,000 codes supposedly, I have only tested this with a few codes so far and it worked) and later dump all the scanned codes to your computer, or it can transmit them immediately to your computer either wirelessly via Bluetooth or directly via a USB (and charging) cable. We are changing over ordering in the dental office I work for. They use a tag ordering system with barcodes. The scanner they were sent didn't work well (apparently), so I wanted to try something different. So far, this works like a charm, I can scan things from quite a distance, in another room, or a couple rooms away, and by the time I get back to the computer, the item I need to order is on screen. I will say the manual is incorrect about the indicators for charging...mine just had a steady red light while charging, not alternating red/blue. It would also be nice if they had a website to be able to download the manual directly from, and maybe use a QR code in the manual for the URL link... ... show more

Scans the 1D barcode really quickly and nice on physical materials. We also use it to scan students' ID's on their phones which is a QR code. It scans it but requires multiple tries and does not pick up the QR code quickly as we'd like.

Scanner work right out of the box. Nice. To compare, I found for qr codes, I was able to read 50 eight character alpha numeric words into separate rows in excel. Which was the max I was able to scan with it. I have an old Motorola 4308 that is able to scan 100 of the same 8 char alpha numeric. But this was much cheaper. To read computer screen I needed to your off light with a simple barcode from manual. The manual even tho for some people may not have been complete. But for me it was very quick to find what I needed and worked great. ... show more
