We had been putting off getting one of these but what really made it happen was when we came home from being away for a few days to yet another Northern California power outage and the house was 45 degrees and it took a good 48 hours for the furnace to catch up. So I ordered this set, even though I did not have a gas line into my fireplace. Luckily, there was a gas line in the crawl space under the fireplace that a plumber was easily able to tap into. Added the SPK-26 pilot light and we had the whole thing set up in no time. The SPK-26 makes it easy to adjust the fire height because at full on it really puts out a lot of heat. The media could not be loaded. I am impressed with the realistic look of the split oak design. It gives appearance of a freshy built fire not the charred smoldering look. It looks so natural even without the flame on. The set up was extremely easy and directions easy to follow. Comes with everything needed except high temperature thread sealer. Also for that finishing touch I added the lava rock around front and sides for that charcoal look. The premium G45 double burner makes the embers glow more at the front and more distributed flame and flame depth than the G4. Keep in mind that this set is the match light. Of coarse the other ignition equipment is available for this set as optional igniters. Pictures that I tried to take do not do this set justice so the set as pictured for this item gives a better representation than I can offer. A video gives better results although colors of embers and flame look different than in person. ... show more

We have a wood burning fireplace that already had a gas igniter installed. I didn't want to hassle anymore with purchasing and storing firewood, plus the cleanup. The wife and I decided to go with a gas log set. We went to the local flame and patio shop and saw this unit on display and liked it. I found the same set on Amazon and it was $100 lower than the the local shop and went ahead and placed an order. I received my order inside a week and it arrived in two sturdy boxes. The product was well packed and protected. I was able to get this set up in about 30 minutes, probably because my gas line was already installed. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. My fire looks just like the Peterson Real Frye picture. We are very pleased with this and we hope it will give us years of pleasure. ... show more

If you buy these logs, please be sure you have seen them in person and you love them. I bought a set on Amazon and did not find they looked high quality and real. The logs from Rasmussen are much better quality and look more real in my opinion. I sent these back through the Amazon return process and had to pay $130 for the return. Would not recommend purchasing these online or through Amazon ... show more

Very nice burner and log set. I didn't receive sand, indicated as included. Not a huge deal. But it was a stopper. Had to run to the store for something that was supposed to be included. When paying for a premium product I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to receive all the components, especially when listed as included in the description. ... show more

I had this professionally installed - it was a replacement, a quick service job so not all that expensive. The combination of the "natural" looking fireplace logs and the G45 burner are beautiful. Following the diagram, the logs are placed perfectly to allow flames dance through the logs, plus the embers glow like a real wood fireplace. The materials, burner unit and metal grate are quality and appear to be durable (heavy gauge) - should last a long time. Fairly easy set up and very realistic looking logs. Looks great and I’m already glad I can instantly have a fire without having to chop wood and haul it in from outside. Only to have to clean out the fireplace later. Should of bought these years ago. I also like that there is some flexibility in arranging the logs.
