  • I am in Heaven!
This rca antenna was so much better then my old antenna. That one I had to get up to turn off the amp, so I could get 12.0, 12.2, 12.3,12.4, 12.5, 12.6 and 40.1, 40.2, 40.3 and 46.1, 46.2, 46.3,46.4 Then if I want to get the ABC Chanels I have to use the amp and reduce Chanel search. It Sucked! The new one, I get all my Chanels without the amp. I am in Heaven! I only have it 4 stars because I just started using it. ... show more

  • Mediocre.
It works better after 5pm in my area I will get my CW after 5pm until 9am next day along with other channels. I get about 70 channels the higher up channels after #30 is when it dies out at 9am and get them back at 5pm. I have used steaming TV subscriptions since 2016 and the prices just keeps increasing it's just crazy. Finding the right antenna is a challenge especially indoor as for me don't have the ability to install one outdoors. I live about 20 miles from any tower. I get a decent amount of channels ABC,CBS, FOX NBC, CW at certain time with others. I picked this because the Antenna Man on YouTube suggested it as it was the only one that actually had a decent coax cable. It does but it could be better it does have a bit of pixelation at times sometimes I have to fuss with getting the antenna in a good direction. But it's still a great antenna if you don't live to far from towers and flat area. I would recommend it. I also purchase another antenna Antop brand to see if theres a difference. But overall not a bad RCA antenna I would get it if you want a cheap antenna for locals and a few others if you can get them. Give it a try if you don't like you have 30 days to return it. Update returned this for ANTOP Antenna AT-405BV such a better antenna and get everything channel I was looking for and more. ... show more

  • Peculiarly variable quality?
I purchased this antenna in 2016 and it worked great. Regularly got 22-27 channels. Always variable reception in wind and storms but still good reception for main 7 channels. The coaxial cable was ruined (fused with antenna?) when I tried to replace in previous tv. Had to get new tv and antenna in 2017 (not very sturdy antennas in general I have to say--and frequently fell over due to having to readjust often to get a channel well). Weirdly, the new antenna will only get 10 channels and often only 8. Very annoying and peculiar. It might be a dud antenna. Bought 2 at once, as they were at one point hard to obtain, and will try the second. But it seems odd that a new tv and antenna would suddenly get that much worse. The amazon details SAY they are the same model. Don't know what to think. Just passing on the info to buyers. --based on review below I'm now thinking that my original antenna was the discontinued model 1250 (no longer have the box and have had amazon conflate reviews onto a single item of different model MANY times). Very disappointed and may return the 2nd antenna. Update: May 2017 I bought 2 of these. First one was not great right out of box. Used to get 20 plus channels. With 1st antenna got average of 10. Just tried the 2nd antenna. Right out of box got more channels. Still not as good as first antennas I bought 2-3 yrs ago. They look exactly the same as the old antennas, but they just don't work as well. They are always bad when it is windy or bad weather, but even when clear they don't pull the channels I used to get. Still disappointed, even though the 2nd antennas works a bit better than the first (exact same model, bought at same time). So I am revising review to 3. It's frustrating because for 2 yrs I used the old antennas and didn't have to have cable. The only change is a newer tv. So there is a possibility that newer tvs are just not designed to work as well with axial cable/antenna attachments. ... show more

  • It claims a 40 mile range and it delivers
I can't believe how many indoor antennas make ridiculous claims about range that cannot be achieved with physics and electronics. Or they promise you that their magic antenna will bring you premium pay channels. This pretty humble antenna was reviewed by the "Antenna Man" on YouTube. He's a knowledgeable and straightforward source of information on both indoor and outdoor antennas. He makes it clear that the best signal is always obtained by getting up as high as you can. And he keeps modest expectations for indoor antennas by comparison. I already had a flat UHF antenna and a very simple rabbit ear unit for VHF. (Puny would be a better description.) I used an antenna combiner to feed them both. This allowed me to angle each antenna with the hopes of getting the best possible reception for both ranges. I used rabbitears.info, providing my address and got a listing of stations and their tower locations. I live in a single level town home in Las Vegas roughly 22 miles from the towers. Outdoor antennas are discouraged but not prohibited. I wanted a simple solution for feeding my Amazon Fire TV Recast Tuner/DVR. This RCA antenna provides both UHF and VHF elements. The Antenna Man was impressed with the VHF signal sensitivity and that was what I desperately needed. He points out that VHF is harder to broadcast. And that this RCA antenna provided the best VHF results among the many indoor antennas he's tested over the years. The Fire TV Recast has pretty finicky tuners compared to most TV sets and I was having a hard time pulling in our CBS station with my puny rabbit ears. I had to patiently try various angles and locations, staying close to a window. I was able to swivel the VHF antenna elements many different ways-- a strong point. Also this antenna has longer elements than most inexpensive rabbit ears. (Bear in mind though: some stations work better by reducing the length of the elements-- you have to test!) I am thrilled that I was able to pull in all the network affiliates (CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS and Fox). Across VHF and UHF bands. Also a bunch of indy stations with vintage sitcoms and game shows. All of this while keeping the antenna in one location and without having to reposition anything when changing stations. I don't think the built-in amplifier made a significant difference. But evidently you MUST plug in the power supply EVEN IF YOU DECIDE YOU DON'T NEED THE AMP. I am happy to say that this antenna met my needs. But if you're in a rural area distant from the broadcasting towers this is not likely to solve your reception problems. I suspect that for homes 40 miles from the towers, this antenna will provide only marginal results. But if you're in a core metropolitan location with decent line of sight to the towers and you have some VHF stations, this antenna may be a good choice for you too. ... show more
