  • Pleasantly surprised
Read about this so figured good to have a couple in toolbox… wasn’t having issues till I installed a silicon dust 4 tuner streamer. OTA signals were ok via cable but streaming always was broken up and froze (audio shut down then pic freezes) thru HD app or Plex Spent months frustrated as new HT setup didn’t include cable just multiple cat6 cables and silicon dust (started to regret not pulling RG6) Then I remembered buying the filter so I figured can’t hurt… Wow… fixed it immediately!! Plex and HD app both have worked flawlessly for months… Worked well for me so recommended 😀 ... show more

  • Local situation matters most
Didn't help my antenna setup. Got this yesterday hopping to clean up some pixelation issues with RF36 broadcasts. Previously had a 6dB attenuator in the the line. Let me explain the setup. Have an HDHomerun Quad (HDHR5) doing all the tuning, fed by 2 attic antennas facing opposite directions to broadcast towers 17 miles and 52 miles away. No amplifier. 1 antenna is a DB4 and the other is a medium-sized yagi (50+ inches). No amplifier, since the signals are very strong. Both antennas have reflectors, so signals are nearly completely from the expected direction. The HDHR tuners can report on signal strength, SNR, and symbol quality. The goal is to have the last 2 as high as possible and the SS good enough. Running a report is easy with a little Linux script, so that has been run in the different configurations at different times of the day. A few scans: -- scan.hdhr5.20211204-1_attenuator-5pm:SCANNING: 605000000 (us-bcast:36) scan.hdhr5.20211204-1_attenuator-5pm-LOCK: 8vsb (ss=81 snq=92 seq=100) -- scan.hdhr5.20211204-1_attenuator-8am-LOCK: 8vsb (ss=82 snq=86 seq=100) -- scan.hdhr5.20211204-LTE-1_attenuator-6pm-LOCK: 8vsb (ss=78 snq=85 seq=100) -- scan.hdhr5.20211204-LTE-6pm-LOCK: 8vsb (ss=88 snq=90 seq=100) -- scan.hdhr5.20211205-LTE-1_attenuator-6am-LOCK: 8vsb (ss=77 snq=68 seq=100) -- scan.hdhr5.20211203-1_attenuator-2am-LOCK: 8vsb (ss=81 snq=96 seq=100) The symbol quality (seq) of 100, just means that for 1 second, no symbols appeared to be dropped. That doesn't mean the picture will be stutter free and non-pixelated. The snq is signal to noise quality. At 2am with 1 attenuator, not this filter, the best results happened. But the results fluctuate constantly from second to second. A few days ago, nearly every channel was clear except RF36. Today, nearly every channel has stuttering and pixelation regardless of the the LTE filter or not. Anyway, a $3 attenuator helps more than this in my situation. I have a few more configurations to test and placement could be important. The signals have been much too strong here normally. Without any filter or attenuator, they don't even LOCK on the channels. The filter don't have any floating screw mount. Both sides are fixed. This means it may be difficult to screw into tight places. Screwed directly into the HDHR, it is a long, easily snapped, extension, so a small coax leader for a little flexibility is probably useful. ... show more

  • Worked like a charm!
We have a whole-house amplified antenna system that was working great for years , then all if a sudden, some TVs had trouble with nearby channels, it started with poor reception and eventually channels disappearing . After performing a significant dose of due diligence I came to the conclusion that that I was getting some Radio Freq Interference (RFI). Discovered the Philips LTE Filter , and for the price, I thought , what do I have to lose? Installed it up in the attic before the Antenna amp up there, presto, all the channels are back ! Success! ... show more
