This may not look like much but it is a damned good antenna.for a very reasonable price. I have another that is 4 times as large 5 times as heavy that catches only pixels. Installation is cupcake easy and the picture is crystal clear. I should have known it would work because I had one like it that was destroyed by a falling limb. It was great then but I think they have made it better. Thanks guys, whoever designed it.

Mine is a difficult area for TV, cellphone and just about any other type of reception. Located near the Lake Michigan shoreline, some good sized hills rise about a mile to the east helping block reception from the nearest TV stations 40-60 miles away. So, my experience isn’t typical. The antenna arrives in a small box containing perhaps a dozen individual pieces. Easy to assemble. A child could do it. Be careful not to loose any of the small screws. The metal “mast” is approximately an inch diameter and roughly 3’ in total length. The lower portion is curved, leaving a vertical rise (from mounting plate) of only 2-2.5 feet - enough to keep it from scraping the roof when it rotates. I mounted the base plate flush against my home’s fascia boards. As far as mounting directly against the siding goes - I doubt many homes would allow that since soffits / fascia boards normally extend farther out from the side of a structure than the “offset” of the mast would allow for. Initially, I installed it along my home’s lowest roof area roof which is about 10-12 feet off the ground - a spot easily accessible from a wood deck using a step-ladder. That didn’t work well. All reception proved badly broken and intermittent. Several days later I used an extension ladder from ground to mount the antenna on my home’s highest point - about 18 feet above ground. I’m now receiving 6 stations well enough to view with only some occasional brief interruption. Quality of reception varies a bit by day. Since I rely on broadband for most viewing, the local stations serve mainly for news and weather - with reception adequate for those limited needs. If you’re not familiar with today’s digital over-air transmissions, as long as you can receive a clear signal you’ll have an excellent picture. It tends to be “everything or nothing” nowadays. The biggest problem is that when you press the single button on the control box indoors you can’t tell which direction the antenna may rotate or where it has stopped. The control is non-directional. Movement also seems a bit “herky-jerky” sometimes, and rotation may occur in either direction with each press of the button. If your signal is strong enough it shouldn’t matter. You’ll manage to hit the right mark and have a clear image. But in a fringe area like mine much precision is needed. So, to supplement this $35-$40 antenna, I purchased a $35 outdoor security camera and mounted it on the deck facing the antenna. It allows me to watch the antenna rotate on my iPad while adjusting it. And it has night vision. I’m attaching 2 shots of the antenna taken from the remote camera - one by day and one by night. One more thing I learned is that the “TV 2” outlet on the amp box seems to work better than the “TV 1” outlet, as it’s hard-wired into the control box. On the contrary, connecting to the “TV 1” terminal requires adding a separate piece of coax. Makes you wonder who designed it. I ordered a 50 foot roll of RG 6 coax cable along with the antenna knowing that the the 33 feet included wouldn’t be enough. Do the math on your project ahead of time and than allow some extra “slack”, as wire never goes as far as you think it will. It’s hard to give a rating for this. Everything is cheap, cheap, cheap. But for most people it should do a fine job. Here’s my best effort. - Antenna construction and rotor quality: 4 (good) - Mounting hardware and cable provided: 3 (adequate) - In-home electronics and controls: 2 (need improvement) - Pricing: 5 (very inexpensive considering components) Overall Rating: 3.5

I don't know what it is about this type antenna with newer smart HD 4k tvs but you really do get way more channels and clarity with an option to turn the pole without having to walk out side and so it manually. They last so much longer than indoor ones that barily pick up anything on new tvs and they can handle some storms, wind lightening, hail you name it, and they still work great.

It was simple to put together and works well bring in the channels I wanted. The rotation feature is not very useful The antenna is in my attic but the control button is near the TV. It is impossible to tell which way the antenna rotated and how far it went. It would be better if you could pick the rotation, Counter or clockwise, and then have the antenna only move 5 degrees per button push. This would allow for slight adjustments with out going up in the attic or on the roof to move the antenna by hand which is what I had to do several time to get it exactly positioned.
