  • Utter downgrade from any other headset - Random EAR PIERCING Static
Style: Kraken V3 HyperSense Pattern Name: Headset
Kraken V3 HyperSense is not worth it. The "second generation of haptics" is in the utter wrong direction. Better product recommendation at BOTTOM. TLDR; BUY THE Razer Nari Ultimate FOR PROPER HAPTICS, BUY ANYTHING ELSE FOR BETTER MIC + AUDIO QUALITY if you don't care for the haptics. Haptics should increase immersion, just as controller vibration does. Too jarring to get immersed. Check every review, all of them experience sharp, ear piercingly loud static at random moments. I've gone through 2 headphones, tested both on several PCs and even Laptops, through all USB ports. Support did not help outside of the generic solutions, and ultimately a replacement with the same issues. Note: I personally use the Razer Nari Ultimate, 1st gen of haptics. I bought this for my GF in hopes the 2nd gen haptics would be similar, and the Mic quality would be better (I use a boom with my Nari, she doesnt want a boom). HAPTICS: TLDR; Best way to describe is UN-IMMERSIVE. Haptic is jarring whether gaming or watching media and listening to music. Zero flow, truly puts the idea of haptics to shame when the Nari Ultimate exists. The biggest downfall (outside of the agonizing static that all users seem to experience) is the downgrade to the Haptics, especially when compared to the much better Razer Nari Ultimate (more on it below). The Kraken V3 HyperSense haptics function (the do the haptic rumble thing) CONSTANTLY. This means that there is a constant rumble that fluctuates, in practice, with the volume of everything happening. There is ZERO flow to the rumbling; Constant rumbling from things like vocals, which makes watching YouTube videos or any media jarring. Also the "customization" for the haptics for the V3 HS is just pathetic, they would be somewhat bearable if you could at least change how much rumble you get at different frequencies, but no that makes too much sense. PERSONALLY, my friends and myself have found when comparing both headphones, that the Nari Ultimate felt instantly more natural. They take the already movie theatre experience of the quality audio, and turn it into an IMAX 5-STAR experience with the rumble of low tones and bass. AUDIO QUALITY: TLDR; Not bad, if you dont care for audio quality. Can be better, and better can be found in any other headset in all honesty. Biggest shared opinion among anyone I've had compare the 2 headphone models, any audio played sounds as though it is distant, or like a surround sound setup that's too far away. Kind of similar to using the THX audio mode, where the sound hits you in a 360 while you sit in the center of a very large room, except THX is off and that room only got slightly smaller. It was simply disappointing listening to music on the Kraken V3 HyperSense, even compared to the Kraken Kitty v2 headphones, the Kraken v2 sounded a lot fuller, I guess more "full range", and there was no "center of a room" issue. (Tested the THX on the v2, v3 HS, and my Nari; All same "center of room" audio that makes THX not worth IMO) MIC QUALITY: TLDR; Absolutely poor quality. Simply do NOT BUY if you want a better Mic than what you've got right now. Akin to McDonalds drive thru, speech can be understood but it will never match your voice in person. BETTER RECOMENDATION: Razer Nari Ultimate (or Any Nari with Haptics, wired or wireless) If you want IMAX theater experience when gaming, watching movies, or listening to music, then this headset is for you. Using this baby is like having the rumbling bass of a good car stereo for your cranium, without actually having to have the volume loud. This is my forever headset, not kidding. Haptics react the exact same way as the rumble in your chest from a subwoofer, it just feels right. I was one of the possibly few people to get the Razer Nari Ultimate headphones for their Haptics, and they still stand as 10000x better for audio quality, balance, and most of all, the HAPTICS. The Nari Ultimate haptics only react to lower frequencies, such as explosions, foot steps, anything bass-y, deep, and LOW. This means the headphones function like a pseudo subwoofer, as you FEEL every single explosion, gunshot, foot step, and whatever else. The haptics feel extremely natural on the Nari Ultimate, although it has a god awful microphone and the audio dials should be glued to max volume and set to Game audio Mode only. I love the immersion of the Nari Ultimate SO MUCH... that I invested in a boom mic so I didn't have to compromise for a diff headset for a better in-line mic. There is an intensity slider for the haptics, simple 0-100 (15-30 good range) to adjust how hard it rumbles. Also comes with 2 audio outputs for PC, Game & Chat (Useful for PS4/5 game & party audio priority, not so much for PC. FYI, Game is what you should always use for everything. Chat doesn't like certain frequencies or something, as the audio will cut out every 10-20 seconds, so listening to music or gaming is annoying and unbearable through the Chat Output. Controlled by a dial on the left side, all the way in one direction disables all sound of the other audio input. Just buy the Nari Ultimate instead, I hope this convinced someone how much I passionately HATE the Kraken V3 HyperSense, such a disappointment after I've been looking forward to more Haptic Headphone options for the past few years. ... show more

  • Good Audio, Decent Gaming Performance, Iffy Features, Weird Bugs
Style: Kraken V3 Pro Pattern Name: Headset
After having these for a bit, I can confidently say they are not for everyone - and that the extra features of this headset (the RGB, Hypersense) can sometimes either not work or just aren't appropriate for every situation. SOUND: [Overall good. Decent gaming headset.] With that out of the way, the sound quality is good. It's not unrivaled, but it's not awful either. Out of the box the audio is quite balanced, but using the Razer Synapse software, you can change the equalizer to however you'd like (as well as enable THX sound quality). With Hypersense on, for the most part, I don't get ANY sound distortion from the low-end at all. But occasionally the high-end and higher-pitched voices will get a weird tinny effect. I tend to turn off Hypersense altogether when in discord call to avoid this. There is also a soft static when the volume is cranked up in the headset. This is something that doesn't bother me though, since I hardly will ever use the headset at such a high volume. Also, if the volume is set that high, literally almost any noise coming out of the beefy audio drivers in this headset will overpower the soft static hum. BUILD: The headset is quite comfortable to wear and not too heavy, definitely can wear for an extended period of time. The volume wheel is a nice touch, as well as a physical mute button. Not much else from there, aside from the button dedicated to the HyperSense feature on the right ear cup. FEATURES: [Iffy, good when it fits/works.] Hypersense is like a jar of cookies. They are nice in moderation but too many and you're left feeling sick and dissatisfied. I really do love the rumble, especially with really bass-heavy songs (it's like dirty bass rumble, but the audio quality is still there), but in some games it just triggers too much. Sometimes in games it triggers almost non-stop, and in others it's a rare occurrence. The only adjustable way the user has to change this is by manually altering the volume of the audio they are listening to, or by setting Hypersense to high/med/low/off. Of course this is completely personal, but some games are better with it turned off rather than on. It really depends on the specific game/media. RGB is another cool feature, but more often than not it either just doesn't work right with Synapse (Razer's program) or is considerably delayed and desynced from any other synapse-reliant RGB. Occasionally, while using the headset and plugging it in to charge during use, it will also just crash synapse altogether, completely freezing all RGB. Restarts and forcibly closing synapse work sometimes, but not all the time. This might be because when plugging in the headset to charge during use also turns off all HyperSense and RGB features. THOUGH, all RGB issues I have would probably be mitigated by getting the normal version of this headset (which is wired only). OTHER QUIRKS [Audio playback issues, audiojack.] Negatively, sometimes the audio doesn't stream out of the headset. This prompts me to either restart the headset or to toy around in Window's audio settings to try and figure out why my audio died. Most of the time turning it off and on again fixes it, but not all the time. There have also been times where when I use the headset and sit in silence for a bit, and then try to play audio - no audio plays. Again, prompting me to restart the headset. Positively, the headset doesn't require power to use when using the audio jack. Also, the headset has an audio jack and pretty decent noise cancellation. I can use this on the bus with my Switch or whatever and listen to music/play games in peace. However, when plugged in there is obviously no RGB or HyperSense. This headset also has a decent wireless range, letting me get up to use the restroom and still hear what is happening from a room and a half away through walls. MIC: [Oops] The mic is removable, but I have a dedicated microphone already so I did not use this feature at all. If you are looking for superb mic quality on a wireless headset though, I suggest the Corsair HS80. ... show more
