  • Purchased for the Special Characters
Color: Classic Black Size: PBT Keycap
Anybody that buys a Razer BlackWidow keyboard will come to find out that several special characters (! @ # ? etc) do not illuminate, which is a considerable disappointment for such an expensive keyboard. Fortunately, Razer now offers these PBT key caps, so you can get illuminated characters for another ~$30. These new keys are definitely higher quality than the stock keys, but they do miss the mark in a few areas: 1. The PBT number pad keys do not include the "home," "pg up," "end," or "pg dn" labels like the stock BlackWidow keys. The PBT "pause/break" key only says "pause." The PBT "page up" and "page down" keys are abbreviated "pg up" and "pg down." There are a few other examples, but the bottom line is that the labeling is not consistent. Some keys are labeled better than the originals, and others are worse. 2. The box does not include detailed instructions for installing stabilizers. Razer directs you to their website, which is also lacking detailed instructions at the time of this review. I was able to figure it out on my own after studying the pieces, but this is clearly something that Razer could improve upon. The metal bars included with the PBT keys appeared to be the same as the original bars installed on my BlackWidow, so I did not replace the bars. It also appeared that Razer lubricated the BlackWidow bars at the factory, but there is no mention of lubrication for installing new bars. 3. The black keys are not as dark as the original BlackWidow keys. They have more of a charcoal tone. Photo attached for reference. I replaced the number keys and tab - QWERTY keys before taking the photo for comparison. ... show more

  • Solving a very specific problem & some important tips
Color: Classic Black Size: PBT Keycap
If you game in the dark, you might be surprised and disappointed with some of Razer's keyboards, like the Black Widow Ultimate: the shifted characters don't light up--not just numbers and "@$#%" but also quotes, semicolons, etc. This is not a big deal but it does start to become an annoyance for those of us in low light or dark conditions. The Razer Doubleshot PBT Keycap set solves this problem, though that isn't its main purpose. It just happens that the shifted keys are designed to light up the shifted characters. These keys are designed for gaming (okay, but does this mean that other Razer keyboards are *not* designed for gaming?). They're sturdier, which honestly doesn't seem necessary--most keyboards will survive long hours of WASDing provided you don't slam your fist against it when things don't go your way. The big gain though is they have this nice tactile feel that's just a bit coarse. It's a faintly stippled texture that grips the fingertips a bit better. IMPORTANT TIPS: The package is neatly fit into four trays. It comes with a key puller that makes it easy to remove the keys, but for a MECHANICAL keyboard you really want to tread lightly as you pull keys like SPACE, SHIFT, and ENTER - they're on metal hinges and it takes patience to figure out how to slip the key first off one side's hook and then off the other. The instructions should have spent a bit more time showing you how to properly separate these keys - I take neighboring keys off to give me room to maneuver. Slide the key to the left until it unhooks from the right side, then lift the unhooked right side upwards and slide to the right - the key will unhook from the left side. Reverse the process to put the new key on. If you're having a hard time keeping the wire bracket steady while you line things up, use one 'fingertip' of the key puller to get under everything and hold it in place. Keys like these that hook onto a metal retainer clip also require you to stick fittings on the underside of the key - they don't seem like they'll fit, but it just takes pressure, patience and persistence to snap them in place. The fittings aren't symmetrical, so you'll want to examine the key you removed to figure out which way the fitting should be pointed - look closely! If they key won't fit when installed, or it fits but then won't come back up, just be patient, check the fittings and the hooks, and try again. This kit does NOT come with O-rings, so if you have a yen to do something different, now would be the time to nab a set of your favorite ones. If your keyboard has O-rings, don't forget to pull those off the old keys and slip them on the new ones before installing the key. Overall, for the price this is a nice kit and the keys feel good. The key puller works well. Razer could have spent a bit more time documenting the trickier mechanical keys and the fact that the underside fittings aren't symmetrical, but patience should get you though. It would also have been useful if Razer lit the shifted keys on all of their keyboards--there are a number of people who game in low light. ... show more

  • Amazing set of PBT keycaps (Just not for Corsair Keyboards if you have OCD)
Color: Mercury White Size: PBT Keycap
So I bought them for my Corsair K70 and many youtube reviewers said they work for all standard keyboards with cherry or razer stems. Fortunately every key worked on my keyboard except for the space bar. Corsair for some reason decided to make their spacebar and stems spaced out a few cm's and that pretty much wouldn't work with either of the space bars included by Razer. Keep in mind these space bars will work with most other keyboards. They also included keys for smaller tkl keyboard layouts and even the thicc enter key used in other parts of the world. Overall the keys are great, and if you want them for Razer keyboards especially you're gonna benefit the most out of them. It just sucks that Corsair decided to use non-standard sizing for the space bar which makes no sense. ... show more

  • Fits Corsair K70 RGB MK.2
Color: Classic Black Size: PBT Keycap
Pros: Everything but the space bar fits. Right-side Windows key is not included as that is specific to Corsair, just used the FN key instead. The font and build quality/feel of these keycaps is amazing! Half the price of Corsair-brand PBT doubleshot keycaps, and the font isn't super ugly like Corsair! Cons: Neither of the two space bars fit. But I have a custom PBT space bar in the mail. :) ... show more

  • Can't believe the value you get at this price point
Color: Mercury White Size: PBT Keycap
I was pretty hesitant about getting another product from Razer, but after their awesome Razer Viper Ultimate, I figured that the company is listening to serious games and dishing out quality products. I never would've thought Razer would actually release PBT keycaps (that cater to both Razer AND non-Razer keyboards). The quality was quite surprising. I wanted to replace the stock Ducky PBT shine through keycaps that came with my One 2 Mecha Mini because the texture was quite slippery. These Razer PBT keycaps are nice and have a nice grainy texture to them. It makes the need for rubber keycaps not necessary (which was the route I almost took when using the stock Ducky PBT shine through keycaps). The white and black Razer keycaps have little to no light bleed. The pink and green keycaps however do suffer from a bit of light bleed (unless you pick dark blue as your LED color of choice). Overall, these are great PBT caps for the price you pay for them. ... show more
