    • SCREW terminals - not the squiggly wire ones!

Yes, it says "screw" terminals, but not knowing what the squiggly wire terminals are actually called, and having only ever seen one type of 6 volt battery in 70 years, I didn't pay much attention. But, of course, these are not designed to work in my regular flashlight, which uses batteries with squiggly wire terminals. However, with a little creative engineering, it works just fine. I tore the wire off the dead battery and stuck it over one of the screw terminals (NOT the center one - the offset one, which has no other way to make contact without using the flexible wire). I needed a 6 volt with screw terminals and they are hard to find.. I usually purchase 12 at a time. The issue is that they do not last long enough in my equipment so I and going with the spring terminals and making changes to my equipment

    • 918C - Vintage Popular Lantern Battery
I ordered a Rayovac 918C lantern battery for an old lantern we had lying around. I know these are not the best lights when compared with today's rechargeable LED lights, but this lantern has a tilting head on it. The head makes it great for working under cars, cabinets and such. The reason I am writing this? Well Amazon has the description with the battery weighing 3.2 ounces? If you are familiar with this battery, you know it weighs considerable more than that. Another source I checked has it listed as 2 lbs. 6 oz which seems right to me. With all that said, Amazon mailed the battery to me in a blue and white Amazon Prime mailer. I never got the battery as the mailer arrived split down the side. If you read other reviews, others too note batteries missing or damaged. I am just saying you may have a similar experience as me - or not. I have no problems with the battery itself. I had no problem getting a refund either. I was looking for a replacement battery for my partner's flashlight that was his since before I met him. This one worked great. At first, I was really confused about how many 6V lantern batteries all had only one spring. It took my partner who has a degree in electrical engineering to tell me that the black cap is only a cap on it to prevent the battery from shorting out before it's in use. Now that I was putting it into a flashlight, I was supposed to take off the cap. Indeed, it came off with no problems. The flashlight now works again. It's good to have a flashlight. Cons: The battery had a tiny crack in the side. I asked my partner, "Is this going to leak battery acid?" The answer is no. The casing is there to prevent water from getting in, so as long as I know the flashlight will be away from water at all times, it's ok. I still taped it shut just to be sure. ... show more

    • Hard to find screw terminal battery easily located on Amazon.

We looked all over town, this type of battery with screw terminals is seeming impossible to find. We finally came home and did a search on Amazon and up popped this 6 Volt Screw Terminal Battery. We couldn't use the standard curly- q type of connection for our marine application. This battery was utilized in an EPIRB for a commercial fishing vessel. An EPERB is a piece of safety equipment that acts as an emergency beacon if the vessel were to sink. It is of the utmost importance that the terminals be securely attached. When the beacon detects that the boat has sunk it automatically floats up to the top and transmits a signal that lets the authorities know that there is a vessel in distress. It locks in the GPS coordinates and also has a flashing light to help the Coast Guard to locate the vessel and crew members. I would highly recommend this battery as the terminal connections are much more secure than other style. ... show more
