  • Good addition to the toolbox
Color: Silver
I'm a tool freak and I did not have one of these so on impulse I grabbed one. In all honesty I have not really put this to a real use yet, but I have it on hand for when that time comes. Fits my hand nicely and seems to be well constructed. I have seen in other reviews that this point may be debatable, but for the very light use I will give this tool I'm sure it will be fine. Quite a sharp blade and will make a very fine mark... certainly will be more accurate than a pencil but will have to make sure I have my glasses on to see it! ... show more

  • OK knife, but there are better options for the same price
Color: Silver
This knife is "OK" - it will cut / mark and it is sharp out of the box. However, for the exact same price, you can get a marking knife from a name brand that is "Very Good" with a better design, better materials, and better craftsmanship. (You can go even cheaper if you make your own handles). The pictures compare this knife (on the left) with a high-quality name brand knife. If you are only using a ruler or square to layout, the blade design is adequate. However, one of the great features of a marking knife is using one piece of the joint to layout the other piece of wood to make an exact fit. The blade on this knife is relatively stubby and thick, which will really limit marking in tight spaces. (The handle shape is a real negative here too) The blade also has a small tang that is glued into a round hole. Mine is very secure but could work loose over time. I find the handle shape on this one to be awkward, but that is personal taste, so no demerits given for that. If this was selling for $10, I would gladly call it a great budget or entry level tool. But if you are going to spend this much, skip this one and get yourself something better. ... show more

  • Better than expected for sure.
Color: Silver
This marking knife is for making precise lines that are difficult with a pencil or pen. Where the pencil will mark slightly wide of the rule, the knife will mark at the edge because the back is flat. The handle is nice hardwood and well-finished. The blade is a very bright steel that shows no signs of corrosion. The edge is suitably sharp and easily resharpened as necessary. The pouch is a necessity to protect the sharp edges, and to keep it from poking you in your pocket. I should have got one of these years ago! Verdict: Recommended. ... show more

  • Nice, capable marking knife
Color: Black
As a marking knife, this has worked well for me. It makes a nice, clean line when used with a metal straight edge. It is sharp out of the package and has a flat back that ensures a straight line. I use this and a wheeled marking gauge to get clean lines and to help cut the fibers of the first layer of wood to get a crisp cut with no tearout. Some have commented on the large handle. I personally like having a larger handle as it makes it easier for me to grip and to make precise lines. With something like an Exacto knife, my larger hands make gripping it and staying straight a challenge. ... show more
