I have been looking for a mechanical pencil that would stand up to the tough conditions on the job. This fits the bill. The carbon is more than 1/8 inch thick, there is a tip sharpener on the other end. Just push the carbon out a couple of clicks and remove the silver end piece and cut a sharp point. The kit came with 4 pencils and 12 replacement carbons, two of them are red, the rest black.
