  • Great Visibility Upgrade for Safer Riding—Day or Night
Style: Fr160
I bought this light with one priority in mind: being seen. After using it for a bit, I can confidently say it delivers where it matters most. The brightness is impressive, especially during the day. A lot of lights claim “daytime visibility,” but this one actually stands out in real-world conditions—traffic, changing light, and all. At night, it provides a strong, consistent presence without being distracting or excessive. Installation was straightforward, and the mount feels secure once in place. It’s also compact enough that it doesn’t add clutter to the bike, which makes it easier to leave on and use regularly. In my experience, that’s key—simple gear gets used, complicated gear gets left at home. Battery life has been solid so far, and the different modes give some flexibility depending on where and when you’re riding. What I like most, though, is the added peace of mind. As cyclists, we’re sharing the road with much larger, faster vehicles, and anything that helps us stand out is worth considering. This light is a practical way to improve visibility without overthinking it. No single piece of gear replaces good awareness and riding habits, but as part of an overall safety setup, this is an easy recommendation. ... show more

  • Great front light for day or night visibility
Style: Fr300
I haven't had this a long time, and I haven't used it to supplement the charge on my Garmin 1030+, so I can't comment on longevity nor the backup charging feature. However, this is a great front light for visibility during the night and day. I use a blinking mode, and the charge lasts for several rides without needing a recharge. It's an important supplement to the blinking taillight I use. So often when a rider is hit by a car, the driver says they didn't see the rider. This makes that significantly less likely. I find pedestrians are more likely to notice me, as well. The reason I bought this is that I had not found a more conveniently mounted front light. It twists onto the Garmin mount just like the computer, and has its own Garmin mount on top, enabling it to sandwich between the mount and the computer almost as if it isn't there. The computer rides an inch higher than it would without the light in place. Included are Wahoo/Bryton adapters, but the instructions say that this will not work with the "original Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT aero out front mount." I like the feature that lets you short-press the on button to see if the battery is low (red) or still good (green). I don't yet have the experience to see how much longer the light will operate once the button turns red, but I imagine at least an hour, and probably more on blink mode. The instructions are well-written in English, unlike the instructions on most Chinese-made products I've used. They say the red switch light comes on if 60% or more of the battery has been used, and that the switch light blinks red when only 5% remains. While you can see the light reflected on the road in all but the brightest sunlight, this light is not meant to see by, but to be seen. For riding at night, you'd best have a dedicated headlight in addition. There are six lighting modes: bright steady, medium steady, low steady, bright alternating with medium rapid flashing, medium flashing, medium slow flashing. Whichever you were using when you last turned the light off will be the mode that comes on next time you turn it on. Sweet! Another feature that I'll be using in future, having reread the instructions just now, is the automatic on/off mode. In this mode, if the bike is stationary for two minutes, the light turns off. The light will turn back on if you jiggle the bike or resume riding. At night, as I'd want to remain as visible as possible if waiting at a stop light, so I'd make sure to move the front wheel every couple of minutes if the light took that long to change. It seems like a good battery-saving feature, day or night. ... show more

  • This light is great for road bike safety. I have used it almost daily for 5 months. Good quality.
Style: Fr300
This light fits snuggly in a garmin style mount. I have used it for 6-7 hours a week over the last 5 months and it is working fine. Weight is reasonable, size is reasonably compact, and build quality is very good. It is a good value for current price. I would buy again.

  • Almost a home run. Almost.
Style: Fr160
There is a lot to like about this light. In fact, it's so good I wish it were better. Let's start with the good. 1. It has a great form factor, has convenient affordances for hooking it up to a Garmin Edge (the 630 model, in my case) holder. It is secured without straps, tightly, and it's easy to attach and remove. 2. The light is nice and bright (when the battery is fully charged) and it has a range of flash patterns. 3. The light wraps around so that it is visible from the side, not just (as with most lights) just from a narrow range in front. 4. It's light in weight for its size. Now the not-so-good. 1. The battery life is, well, disappointing. If you have it on my preferred flash pattern (the one with rapid bright flash and a weak in-between light—we'll call it "Setting 5") it loses its brightness after three hours and keeps shutting off after four. I typically do 50 mile rides, which last ~3 hours, and I worry whether it is noticeable enough in traffic for the last part of those rides. 2. I wish there were more flash patterns. For battery saving I'd like a very bright but short flash followed by a half-second in the off state. Something like this (an asterisk (*) represents a flash, a dash (-) represents a tiny chunk of no flash time similar to that taken up by a flash): * - - - * - - - *). Even better would be a random pattern: * - - * - - - - * * - - - * - * * and so on. I like this light very much, but I really do wish it could be better. What would make it a home run? - Put in a bigger battery. Something that could last on a century (100 miles) ride without getting too dim. - Add more flash patterns, and especially a random one (these are more noticeable than the steady, boring, regular flashes). Raveman, are you listening? I'd pay more for a home run. Really I would. ... show more

  • Great for a triathlon bike aero cockpit Great for a triathlon bike aero cockpit
Style: Fr300
The Raveman 300 is a great light for an aero cockpit on a triathlon bike for safety when training. Trying to find a light that will go on the aero bars in some configuration is a challenge and the fact that this light works directly in a Garmin mount is outstanding. You stack your Garmin computer on top (see photo) and off you go (I am using an Edge 540). Its on the factory mount for the Zipp Vukashift AXS 90 aerobars. The light settings vary from flashing to steady, my hands block a bit of the light but overall I have been pleased with the fit on the bike and the brightness for daytime visibility. Note that if you are riding at night this is not a light for road visibility, due to brightness and the placement on the aerobars (tilted slightly up), but cars can clearly see the light. Battery life is good, no issues on 3 hour training rides. ... show more

  • Best Cycling Daylight Running Lamp Best Cycling Daylight Running Lamp
Style: Fr300
For a cyclist finding the right cycling light is like Goldilocks finding the right porridge bowl; one is too hot, the other is too cold until, finally, the last bowl is just right. Same with cycling lights; one is way too bright, the other is way too dim until, finally, you find the light that is just right. I have been cycling for over 40 years (yes I am THAT old),during that time I have tried dozens, if not hundred, of bike lights, both front and rear. Prior t purchasing the Ravemen FR300 front light, my go-to front light was the Garmin Varia UT800 Smart Light. It is a powerful, long-running, smart and well-made light. Its only problem is that it was a bit of overkill for daytime riding and, at 155 grams, it is also a bit porky. So I set out to find the “right” DRL, not overly bright and not overly heavy. The Ravemen FR300 exactly fits my requirements. It is bright enough for daylight riding but not overpowering and, at 75 grams it is light enough to be hardly noticeable. As an extra bonus, it neatly attaches to the Garmin upfront mount, right under my Garmin Edge. It looks sleek and aerodynamic. As an “extra-extra” bonus I can mount the Garmin Varia right under the Ravemen FR300 for a powerful lighting solution. This product hits it right out of the ballpark like a Shohei Ohtani homerun. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Great daytime light, smart design.
Style: Fr300
This is a nice daytime light. If has nice functionality features like the motion auto-switch, last setting memory, and multiple quarter-turn attachments to increase compatibility. I like that you can position it under the computer. Good value for money, good light, I wouldn’t use it at night on a trail, but otherwise it’s a great daytime light. ... show more
