I started writing with fountain pens a few years ago; I think they take less effort to use than ball points, and I like the fact that I am not throwing plastic away every few weeks because I cannot refill a ballpoint. I've only had "starter" pens thus far...a few Lamy Safaris and a Lamy All-Star, which work very well (are tough pens as well), but I'd admired this all-brass pen for a few months until I decided to pull the trigger on it, and am SOOO HAPPY that I did. This is a BEAUTIFUL pen, and the nib it came with glides across the page for me...it writes much smoother than my Lamy pens, and it really feels "like butter". This is my daily driver pen - I use it 24/7, carry it in my back pocket. It's beautiful, rugged, sustainable, and reusable. This is what more products should aspire to be like. I really love this pen. So smooth and I love a heavy pen so it's right up my alley. If you don't like a heavy pen don't purchase this. Get one of the aluminum pens they offer. Honestly my favorite calligraphy pen
