  • Great set of lights. Excellent customer service. Just be careful if you are going to clip to a bike bag.
Style: Battery Powered
The lights work really well and were easy to install. The front light is nice and bright, and the different settings are great (it can be set to always on, steady blinking, or quick bursts of flashes. The rear light is also decently bright, and it too has 3 modes to cycle through (always on, steady blinking, or steady clinking but cycling through each of the 3 lights individually). It comes with the option to mount the rear light to your bike seat or clip it the a bag. I have a bag under my seat with a place for a clip, which I was using to hold the light, but it popped off one day and I lost it. I contacted the seller, who sent me a brand new one for free, which was awesome. On my next ride, with the new rear light, I lost it again another 5 times (I kept hearing it hit the concrete so I was able to find it every time). For some reason, it doesn't like to stay on the clip. I'm thinking about just switching to the seat-post mount, or else taping/gluing the opening of the clip shut so it can't pop off anymore. I didn't take off a star for this because it might be an issue with the loop on my bag as opposed to the clip on the light. Also, the excellent customer service provided by the seller to send me a new light for no charge tells me that they stand behind this product, which I support. It is a great item at a great price, and I would gladly buy again and recommend to anyone. Just be careful if you are going to clip it onto the back of a seat bag. ... show more

  • For the price it's a no brainer - detachable mount very useful
Style: Battery Powered
Safety wise, for children bike lights are a must. If I had my way I'd send my kids out with Tron outfits on - just too many idiots playing with their mobile phones on the roads. Firstly loved the price - with the lightning deal I picked this set up for 6.10 plus tax - that is soundly in the "worth a chance,....what do you have to lose?" territory. So even though I bought this some time ago, I only yesterday mounted it on my child's bike, along with a Vont Pyro USB rechargeable light I had just bought that I mounted for my other child's bike. They're both sub 10 years old and really traveling far on bike so getting lights on bikes is the no brainer necessary thing to do. Part of my commentary comes from a comparison between this and the vont pyro. Mounting System The biggest item for me is the mounting system. The BV bike set has mounts that can be fixed in place and the lights can be clipped on or off pretty simply. It's true that the front light takes a little fidding to remove the light from the mount, but once you do so, it's a defacto torch (RoW English name for flashlight). My youngsters would have a little trouble mounting / demounting - there's a reason I gave this to the eldest. So it's very capable - leave the mounts in place, and if it's really dark you have a torch to illuminate your path up the driveway. The mounts are sufficient for my needs - sure they're plastic and seem ok but if I were a competitive mountain biker, you'll need something more rugged mount wise. By comparison the Pyro lights have rubber band like connectors that wrap around your handlebar and seatpost. MUCH more difficult to put on and off and here's the kicker - you need to do this often because there is no separate mount - the pyro lights are effectively LED lights with a clip at the back and the rubber band goes under that clip. Not at all child friendly but some nice bright lights once on and USB recharegeable. Batteries Back to the BV lights - they're not rechargeable - in the front you have a pack of 4x AAA (aka "triple A") batteries. In the back you have 2x AAA. You could argue that I could use rechargeable AAA batteries with the lights, and I would if it were for me, but my children LOSE EVERYTHING - rechargeable batteries are not cheap. So the Pyro wins out there. Light Intensity Compared with the Pyro the FRONT LIGHT of the BV is easily brighter. The pyro is good enough but seriously the BV is enough to burn your retina out ("It burns! It burns!") - again reinforcing its use as a torch when you get to your destination. Flip to the rear light though and the Pyro is slightly, only slightly brighter than the BV but the pyro is also I think wider with 3 separate lenses making it more visible. Not much in it though. Overall value: At the price I paid ( $6.10 plus tax) I think it's a great deal. The front torch dual use is of real value and the much easier ability to mount / unmount really helps - you put your mounts on (you'll need a Philips screwdriver to tighten it up) and that's it - leave the mounts in place. Can't comment on the battery life. Can say that even if it's 20 hours, I don't care - I'll put in new batteries and the kiddos can be on their way. hth Dingo ... show more

  • Excellent light - packaging was difficult, use scissors
Style: Battery Powered
The Chromium version with rechargeable front and rear lights was a perfect replacement to my decade old BV AAA battery powered lights. These new lights are extremely bright and I like that the mounting is very easy, if you have existing silicon/rubber inserts. I have a simple Giant hybrid (city) bike and that’s where these are installed. I used a thicker silicon insert from the original installation so that the front light would mount tight enough to not move or fall while riding and to not be annoying when taking the light on and off the front mount. My handlebar thickness is thin, too thin for the silicon wrap to work (the extra flap just blocks the mount, it’s a bad design for thin handlebars). But the screw mount is also bad because the multiple silicon inserts didn’t work either (believe me, I used all of them, and it was still lose after tightening the screw as far as it could possibly go). Since I had a thicker silicon insert from my previous installation, I was able to use that and all was well. The front mount isn’t going anywhere now and I can very easily remove the front light from the mount. The rear light mount is the silicon wrap or the clip (the clip just goes on the flat kit under your saddle, kit sold separately of course). I got lucky here because my down tube on the rear part of the bike frame is thick enough to easily use the silicon wrap mounting, worked perfectly. My flat kit wasn’t BV, but it had the same strap for the clip, but it was just angled downward, so I didn’t use the the clip. Extremely pleased with the upgrade overall, these lights are extremely bright compared to the AAA battery powered ones that they replaced. Be careful, these new lights will blind you, no joke, they are very bright. Cannot comment on how long the rechargeable built in batteries will last (in terms of charge cycles before they completely fail), but I know they will provide hours of ride time at the lower brightness levels. If you want rechargeable lights, and especially if you are replacing very old BV lights, definitely choose these, very nice upgrade from the originals. ... show more

  • Both Lights Work Perfect For Cannondale Criterium 3.0 Old Race Bike.
Style: Battery Powered
⁃ I am refurbishing an older model barn-find Cannondale 3.0 Criterium SR2000 Race bike. I needed this safety light set as an important accessory for dusk/night time riding. ⁃ I also purchased the BV strap on Saddle/seat bag to accompany this safety light set as my older saddle bag had outlived its usefulness. ⁃ The safety light set comes with a pictorial that shows how to install the lights to the bike. ⁃ I bought 6 AAA batteries for the 2 sets of lights. The back red safety light takes 2 AAA batteries and the front clear safety light takes 4 AAA batteries. ⁃ I used a coin to open the red safety light as per the pictorial instructions. ⁃ For the back red safety light, I attached it to my BV saddle bag and it fit perfectly onto the saddle bag cloth handle which is very handy and looks like it’s made specifically for clipping a safety light. Since it’s the same manufacturer, the light fits perfectly. ⁃ The reason I attached the back red safety light to the saddle bag is because the saddle bag occupies the space that the red light mount and accompanying red light would ideally be hanging from. ⁃ The front mount for the front light comes with 3 rubber spacers. On my bike, I used the outer 2 spacers. ⁃ To fix the front mount, you’ll have to remove the nut attached to the screw. I used a small adjustable wrench to remove this nut. This nut will be useful as it’s going to connect to the screw that holds the mount on the opposite side. It’s impossible to have a tight fit without using this nut on the opposite side of the mount connection at the bottom. I have attached pictures to show what I mean. ⁃ I used a CRV-PH2 screwdriver head to screw the attaching screw. ⁃ Once the front mount was firmly affixed to the handlebar, I then slid in the front safety light itself. There is a reassuring click at the end and it stays secure. To remove it, simply depress the small ‘lever’ at the end and it will slide right out. ⁃ On a ride, the front light stays firmly on the mount and doesn’t bounce. The back red light also stays firmly on the saddle bag. ⁃ The red light is bright enough at night and will alert traffic and people behind you. ⁃ The white front light is also clear and will illuminate approximately 500 yards (1,500 feet, 0.3 miles, 0.45 km) ahead of you. Probably not ideal for 45 MPH race speeds but good enough for the decent ride home at dusk. It works well both for completely dark areas and occupied dwellings with night street lights. ⁃ The various steady and strobe features on both lights work well. ... show more

  • Affordable, but not very durable
Style: Battery Powered
They work well, when they work. I bought two, and one of the headlamps quit working. I diagnosed it and it was the switch that failed. Luckily I was able to solder a bypass to get it to work, but now it is always ON and I need to remove the batteries everytime. The tail light, pay attention to the orientation when you mount it, since vibration can cause them to fall off! Otherwise, they have good light, and different tail light modes. ... show more

  • Super Bright????? NOT!!!!
Style: Battery Powered
I bought 2 of these based on so many reviews that said these were bright. Ummm...what are you all comparing the brightness to, a bedroom night light? These are NOT bright. I paid $9.49 for each set. Cheap plastic housing. It needs to be fed 4 AAA batteries and it still drains fast. Oh and one of the 2 I ordered was dead on arrival. I knew I was buying $9 headlights but it was still worse despite having tempered expectations. Boy, do I feel like I got ripped off. I gave the working one to my toddler so she can have a flash light to play with. As far as brightness goes, this light would be a bear minimum if all you wanted is to be barely seen by motorists amidst city street lights. If you ride in rural areas and are thinking of buying this to light your way...sure it'll work but you better ride slow because you won't see too far ahead of you. Daytime use to get you noticed...I guess it's better than no flashing headlight...just remember, it's not that bright at night, so it won't be better during the day. If this is a secondary light for you, solely used for its flash mode to supplement your other and stronger headlight then this may be worth the current price of $8. IMO, do not use this as a primary headlight. With regards to the tail light, it is serviceable. It has steady on, flashing, and chasing (3 low powered leds). Again, I would not use this as a primary tail light. I would use this as a secondary and install it on a seat stay. Put your primary tail light on your seat post. Yes, I could have returned these to Amazon, but I didn't want the hassle. I kept the set because I decided to use the rear lights as a secondary rear tail light. A few weeks later, I decided to get a stronger secondary. I am now using it as a tertiary rear light. It works great as a 3rd light. Maybe the 2 I ordered came from a bad batch. Maybe not. Your miles may vary, but for me, I would not buy this set again. ... show more
